This is our very first dining out without a live-in maid – it was a buffet lunch at Genji Japanese restaurant @ PJ Hilton. After having the luxury to have a ‘kakak’ to help me out for the past 10 years, I now have to adjust my life living without a live-in maid. Now there is no one to help me lug a big bag when we go out and no extra pair of hands and eyes to help keep an eye on the girls. It’s manageable now that Cass is 4 years old, except that I have to ditch the huge back-pack and carry a bigger handbag myself, which ain’t that glam but oh well, that’s what most mothers without a live-in helper does right? I can’t carry my Coach handbag anymore but have to replace it with a huge blue and white stripes Oriflame mummy-baby bag, which does not really go well with most of my outfit. The first time I carried that huge blue and white stripes bag, Alycia gave me a shocked and sarcastic remark.. “mummy, are you going to use that bag? It’s for the BEACH!!” LOL!!
It’s been 2 weeks since kakak Dyah left us and though life is pretty tough without a live- in helper, I am slowly but surely getting used to it. I just have to invest more in expensive hand moisturizing creams and gloves. And online business is now taking a small break too until Alycia’s exam is over and until things at home are more settled.

you can still carry your nice handbag. Just use another shopping bag to carry the other stuff and ask your hubs to help you carry it 🙂
Shireen, I always carry big bags. There are big red canvas bags which has many pockets, and Longchamp tote.
I was without a maid with a baby and a 4 year old. I carried a black back pack everywhere and ditched my handbag for a few years!
I have never been out with a kakak. I am sure it would have been nice. My husb supposedly helps with minding the kids…one time he misplaced our toddler son @ the mall, luckily we found him after a few minutes. Outcome could have been a tragedy. You are lucky to have a Coach purse already..my 1st was a gift from my daughter! In all fairness, Coach costs a fraction here compared to KL. I still carry big roomy bags cos I do like to bring everything along. Currently using a Longchamp that the kids bought when we were in HKIA in May. Guess they were embarrassed by Mum’s big pasar malam bag!!
I still carry good branded handbag .. just need to have big handbag …
BTW, what do you have to carry a big big bag??
Just wondering, what do you put in the bag?
I use a bag for #2 (diapers, 1 set of clothes etc) but there’s nothing for #1 inside.
My big bag consists of Cass’ diapers (yep she still wears a diaper when she goes out. You will know why she still needs to wear diapers if you follow my blogs), extra change of clothes for Cass, a pack of wet tissues, packets of tissue papers, water tumblers x3, my camera (a must!) and my bulky Samsung Galaxy Note.
Me too carry a bigger bag to keep all the kids things and also mummy’s stuff. No more carrying handbag 🙁
Normally, I will carry recycled bag to put the kiddos’ stuffs and my purse. Look like aunty but i need that bag to carry those stuffs. haha
