My Neighbour Is Driving Me Crazy With….

…. her curries. Every morning at around 10ish am, my Sikh neighbour will start to cook her curry. First I hear her blending the onions and stuff in the blender and in less than an hour’s time, I smell her heavenly curry. I tell you, the mouth watering aroma of the curries that wafted from her kitchen to our kitchen each morning can really make my tummy rumble and growl. I love curries, especially the authentic Indian or Sikh curries. And my neighbour is such a good cook. Not only do her curries whet my appetite, even the aroma of her fried chicken and fried stuff are driving me hungry every morning. Yesterday, I met my neighbour at the van selling vegetables outside our house and I told her that her curries smell damn good and hinted to her that one day, I have to sample them. She just smiled proudly. I hope she got the hint and will one day, ring on my door bell and present me with a bowl of her delicious curry! I’m gluttonous, ain’t I?

I Am A Pack Rat

I admit that sometimes I am quite a pack rat. Whenever I see empty bottles, tins, containers and paper bags that are cute, colourful and stylish, I don’t have the heart to chuck them away. Instead, I will keep them for months or sometimes even years and when I finally run out of space to store them or when I am finally satisfied of keeping them long enough, I give or throw them away. One of the items that has been sitting on my toilet cistern for months is this empty Cicco baby bath bottle. I find the teddy bear bottle too cute to discard and thus, it is now a decor item in my bathroom.

Please Don’t Fall Sick

My maid is having the sniffles and I’m so afraid she’ll spread the virus to my 2 gals. I’ve given her Clarinase and Nurofen for the last 2 days and hopefully, she’ll recover in no time. If my gals catch my maid’s cold bug, I’m pretty sure there’ll be a domino effect and everyone in the family will kena too, including me. And who suffers the most? It has to be me coz when the gals and I fall sick, I don’t get MC or rest and work continues as usual, with OT round the clock but no OT payment from the big boss. Hubby’s pocket would also suffer a big hole when he has to bring everyone to see the doctor. So please God, please don’t let anyone of us catch my maid’s cold bug.

Not Much Sleep

I didn’t get much sleep last night. I think I only have about 2-3 hours of deep sleep last night. I was actually having insomnia. Yea, me having insomnia, of all people. Already severly deprived of sleep, I just couldn’t get into deep sleep as I had drank some Pu Err chinese tea in the late evening. We had some relatives at our house yesterday and we feasted on some pasar malam food, lots of durians and kuih. My mil then brewed some very nice Pu Err tea and since it’s an expensive tea (around HKD1800), I decided to drink a cup or two and when bedtime came, sei lor, i just couldn’t sleep. I just tossed and turned on my bed and went downstairs to check for offers a few times but just couldn’t sleep. Good lesson learnt for me, never drink tea after 6pm in future, especially chinese tea.

Nice Smell Wafting From The Kitchen…Again

Whenever my mil stays with us, we all get to enjoy her cooking. As I am typing this post, again I can smell the aroma of stewed pork ribs in seafood sauce wafting up from the kitchen. The smell is making my tummy rumble again. I have to resist popping food into my mouth now as I’m waiting for hubby to bring home durians from the pasar malam… just tell me how am I to loose weight like that with so much temptations from so many sources? Never mindlah, i’ll just eat now and diet later, when everyone goes back.

A Fun-filled and Food-filled Week Ahead

Next week we can expect a fun-filled week as my eldest sil from Hong Kong will be here in KL with her 1.5 yo son and my hubby’s heart surgeon uncle from London will also be coming with his wife and 6 mo son. I’m sure my gals will have lots of fun playing with their new cousin and little uncle. There’re also bound to be lots of makan in restaurants and more durians to eat as everyone is just as durian crazed as me, more so for these visitors from overseas deprieved of good quality durian. Today, I’m sure my hubby will buy durian for my mil from the pasar malam as my mil is also a durian lover. I have actually gained 1kg over the last 1 month resulting from eating too much of durian and sitting in front of my computer for long hours. Sitting for long hours is not good and bad for one’s tummy.

I can never resist good quality durians, especially the Musang King, XO, D24 and dunno what it’s called the deep orange colored creamy durian. Fuiyoh, i can just eat 10 seeds of them in 1 day. Yikes, i better have better self-control over my eating habits. I hope no one buys mooncakes too coz if I see them, I will surely indulge in a piece or two of these fattening empty calorie sinful grub.

Roaches

One of my top 5 greatest phobias is cockroaches or any insects that have big flappy wings. I was just telling Leena (Baby Shern) 2 days ago that I just abhore roaches and the following day, I had a close encounter with a big brown roach.

I was about to feed Sherilyn her milk when at the corner of my eyes, I saw something big and brown with shiny flappy wings on my computer. I quickly turned my head to the computer and saw a huge, brown roach flapping its shiny wings as if telling me to stay away from it, else it will fly right through me and squirt some stinky black goo on my face. Eeewwww……. I just freaked out and screamed and yelled out to my maid “suuuuuu… cepat mari tolong saya, ada LIPAS, cepat angkat Shelltox”. Su who was in the toilet rushed out with a can of aerosol and starting spraying the roach who then flew, eewwww…. and I ran for my dear life, pulling Sherilyn away. Luckily, the aerosol managed to suffocate poor siu keong (chinese nickname for cockroach) which then landed under the tv cabinet. I wanted to hug Su and thank her for killing that roach. I better call Rentokil today to service my house as soon as possible. So timid hor me, terrified of something which is so tiny and powerless, sigh…. :shake head:
