You can sync your body and mind to eat clean. I have been eating pretty clean for the past 4 months. This has rubbed off on my kids. They now prefer food prepared at home as they have also synced their body and mind to accept only healthy food. Don’t get me wrong, we still eat out during the weekends but we make cleverer and healthier choices now. Once in a while, we still indulge in not-so-healthy food but I believe it won’t harm if it is not in excess. Deep fried food is often avoided, as with eateries well-known for lacing their food generously with salt, sugar, oil and synthetic flavor enhancers.
Today I prepared yet another healthy lunch for Cass. It was my first attempt preparing baked egg-in-a-hole toast.  Kids will surely love this awesome pawsome snack that is both cute and wholesome. And it is easy peasy and fast to prepare. Even your kids can help to prepare this toast.
I used white bread for Cass and wholewheat bread for mine. I used a bear cookie cutter and a star cookie cutter but the bear cutter did not produce a very ‘beary’ shape.
Note to self : must buy a big heart cookie cutter. A bigger shape can hold more egg. The bear cookie cutter is a tad small and some of the raw egg sipped out of the bread, resulting in part of the bread getting ‘glued’ to the baking sheet.
The cutout star and bear toast were unbelievably crispy, just like cookies!
DIRECTIONS
STEP 1
Preheat oven to 160 degrees C. Generously butter a nonstick rimmed baking sheet. Spread butter on slices of bread. With a cookie cutter, cut out the center of 1 slice of bread. Let the buttered side of the uncut bread face the baking sheet so that it is easier to remove the bread once it is baked. Line the four sides of the uncut bread with cheese. Place the cut bread on top.
STEP 2
Carefully crack 1 egg into center of each slice. Season with salt and pepper. Bake until egg whites are set – about 15-20 minutes, depending on how firm you want the egg to be.  Baking time will be shorter if you prefer runny eggs. Remove from oven and season with whatever herbs that you have in your kitchen.

my mum used to make this for me for breakfast! =D
Kcan, really? So sweet of your mum! 😀
I do my version right in the frying pan…cut a round hole (I just use an upturned glass since I don’t have any fancy cookie cutters) in the bread, butter one side, put the buttered side down on the pan, crack an egg in, add in whatever else eg cheese, spinach, bacon, ham. Serve when egg is done. There will be leakage but the egg will run to the underside of the bread.
Hi Chris, good idea to fry directly on the frying pan. Do you flip the bread over so that the egg faces the pan?
