This week is a momentous occasion for our family (from my side), filled with joy and heartfelt celebrations. Today, my parents are traveling from Ipoh, and my older brother’s family is coming from Singapore to gather in Kuala Lumpur. My younger brother, Roy, drove from KL back to Ipoh yesterday and will be driving our parents down to KL today. The reason for this grand reunion is to celebrate my dad’s 81st birthday, making it a much-anticipated family event since the pandemic.
The last time my parents visited KL was five years ago in 2019. That was before the pandemic gripped the world and changed everything forever. This will be the first time in half a decade that our family celebrates a birthday together in Kuala Lumpur. The anticipation and excitement are palpable as we all prepare for this long-awaited reunion.
My parents and Roy are on their way from Ipoh now. My parents have always been the cornerstone of our family, and their presence makes every gathering special. Roy, always the dependable one, ensured that everything was in place for their trip.
Meanwhile, my older brother’s family is making their way from Singapore. Despite the distance, they have always made it a point to be present for important family events.
The reunion is not just a family gathering; it is a celebration of life, resilience, and togetherness. After five long years, seeing everyone together again is a dream come true. The pandemic has taught us the value of family and the preciousness of moments spent together. This week, we are not just celebrating my dad’s birthday but also cherishing the time we have with each other.
One of the things I am most excited about is the opportunity to catch up with everyone. Life gets busy, and we often get caught up in our routines. This reunion gives us a chance to update each other on our lives, share stories, and reconnect.
