After several months of coaxing Maria, our part-time helper of 9 years to get vaccinated, she finally relented and registered herself. Two weeks ago, her friend helped her to download the MySejahtera app onto her phone. Today Maria received her first dose of Pfizer and her second dose will be on 9th August. I’ve also been advising Maria to wheedle her husband to register to be vaccinated but she kept telling me that her husband is very stubborn, has a phobia of needles and who keeps giving invalid excuses to avoid getting vaccinated. However, after she came home from the vax centre today, she managed to convince her husband to get vaccinated. Maria quickly sent me a Whatsapp message to ask me to guide her to download the MySejahtera app onto her husband’s phone. As she doesn’t understand English, I had to translate everything on the app for her. I sent her a You Tube tutorial in BM too. I used Google Translate to translate my explanation to her in BM 😬

I also informed Maria that her husband has an option to walk-in to any vaccination center on 1st August onwards to get vaccinated without any prior appointment / registration via MySejahtera.

I’m so glad that my persistent persuasion has paid off. Maria has already gotten her first dose today and her husband will soon be vaccinated. Soon Maria can walk into our home to help us again. I’m so proud of Maria.

  1. So kind of you to help out. I still cannot fathom why ppl are vaccine-resistant. Worried about side-effects? Try death, a very possible side- effect of Covid!🤦🏻‍♀️

    1. Yes, most of the people whom I know who are vax-resistant are worried of the possible side-effects. But many of them finally gave in and got their jabs with little to no side effects! Our PM will soon announce the privileges that people who have received both doses of the vaccine will get. So I guess this will encourage more ppl to get vaxxed soon. I can’t wait for our country to achieve herd immunity.
