Haru had her first bath yesterday, at almost 6 months old. When Sherilyn tried to blow dry Haru with a hairdryer with me carrying her with a towel, that scaredy cat got intimidated by the sound of the hairdryer. Her deadly sharp claws popped out instantaneously and the wet pussy struggled and jumped out from my hands and in the process, clawed me with the razors. As the skin on my inner arm, palm, shoulder, fingers and right boop broke, I felt like I was being mauled alive by a tiger!!
The thrills of having a cat 😹
I’ll be bringing our girl to the vet for neutering on Friday. To be honest, this worrywart here is very worried whether there’ll be complication arising from the neutering. I’m very certain that Haru will protest having a cone of shame put on her neck. She wouldn’t even wear a collar. She hates having anything on her neck and body.
I did a Google Review on the vet and read some negative reviews on him, with some commentators stating that their pets died after being spayed by this vet. However, this vet is a much loved and trusted vet by pet owners in our neighborhood and I’ve read very good reviews on him. I’m now torn, unsure of whether to go to this vet or another one. The other vet that’s further away from our neighborhood has mixed Google Reviews too.
Haru’s going to be hissing like a mad cat at the vet’s on Friday. She’s going to be very upset not being able to eat her breakfast (she’s a very hungry cat who needs 3-4 meals a day) and then manhandled for the procedure. We’re all going to have a tough time subduing her. I’m so not looking forward to this Friday 🥺

It’s not really necessary to bathe cats unless they got into mud etc. I did wash our cats when they got too old to groom themselves properly. I’m sure Haru will do fine with the neuter procedure. Her cone can be used to protect you the next time you bathe her. Try and get her used to the noise of the hair dryer by having it on a few secs at a time around her, and then follow with a treat or two.
Thanks for the handy tips Chris! I’ll try them. Hopefully Haru will not go crazy when we place the cone on her. BTW, we have postponed her neutering date to end June.
