I can finally tick off the first item on my 2019 New Year Resolution – replace old mattress and divan with new one! 👏
I’ve been wanting to replace our divan and mattress since many, many moons ago. But I’ve always been struck by busyness and procrastination. Buying a new mattress and divan seemed like a colossal chore for me – from going to the furniture shop to getting the mattress and divan delivered to my place, moving the old mattress and divan out, cleaning up the mess, etc. seemed like a daunting task to me. I’m pretty laid back and resistant to change in certain ways. I’d wanted to change the mattress since 10 years ago but with so many events that had transpired in my everyday hectic life, another 10 years zoomed past. And what do I know? Hubs and I have been sleeping on the mattress for 20 years already!! And the mattress had been tainted with countless incidences of pee, poop and puke from our three babies and even blood. That mattress had been one hotbed for bacteria and other germs. And we slept on it every night EEWWWW 🤢 🤮 🤧
Early this week, the mil and I went to the furniture shop and went on a frenzy there! 😬 Besides getting a new king size divan and mattress for my room, I got two solid wood single beds for Alycia and Sherilyn, a new study table for Sherilyn and the mil got herself a solid wood chair for her prayer altar.

Alycia’s battered 10.5-year old bed. She’s been sleeping on it ever since we moved into our condo 10.5 years ago. The wood planks are still in very good condition though.
I am still not done with my furniture shopping yet but we’re pretty sucked dry now after this large investment! Let us recoup our earnings first and I’ll get a sold wood sideboard for our dining area. Mason Home Decor has a very classy collection of quality solid wood furniture. I also need to get a study table for Cass as she’s now jealous that both her sisters have a study table except her!

Ok, enough on furniture! Let’s talk mooncakes 😋
Although Mooncake Festival is 1.5 months away, retailers are already displaying lanterns and mooncakes for sale! And I see people buying mooncakes now!
I don’t really fancy eating mooncakes but if I see low sugar mooncakes, I’ll get one to try. My favorite flavors are assorted nuts and pandan.
This premium pandan single yolk mooncake made from real pandan leaves from Bing Liang Bakery looks divine and is now on a sale. I’m so tempted to get one to try!
