Weekly Updates

This week has been a whirlwind of events, from medical checkups to exciting news about my girls. Life is always full of surprises, and this week was no exception.

Medical Checkup & Unexpected News
The highlight (or rather, the lowlight) of my week was my annual medical checkup at my gynae’s clinic. While most of my results were fine, there was one particular finding that I still can’t get over. My gynae reassured me that it’s only for monitoring now, but in rare cases, it could turn into something more serious. I will have to wait until next year’s scan to see if it remains status quo or has grown. If it grows, I’ll need to see a specialist. But I refuse to let this worry me for 365 days straight. After consulting Mr. Google and Mr. AI, I found that this condition is something many people have without even knowing, often detected incidentally during a scan. So for now, I’ll put my faith in God and focus on the present.

Cass’ Bursary & Academic Goals
On a brighter note, Cass shared some wonderful news with me yesterday! Her high school has approved her bursary for another year—yay! This marks the third year she has received this financial aid, and I am beyond grateful for this blessing. Now, she has to decide on her subject choices for her SPM exam this year. She has opted to take English Literature as an elective to increase her chances of securing another A. Her goal? Scoring at least 8As to qualify for a full scholarship, ideally from a private university locally or, even better, overseas! I know the competition is tough, and the chances are slim, but with determination and hard work, nothing is impossible. She is very diligent in her studies and gives her all in everything she does. On top of that, she continues to train hard in figure skating, practicing three times a week from morning till night! It’s a rigorous schedule, but she loves it, and that’s what matters most.

Sherilyn’s Dance Gig
Meanwhile, Sherilyn has an exciting gig today—she’ll be performing with her dance team at a multinational company’s annual dinner. The best part? The pay for this gig is quite lucrative! I’m proud of how she manages her passion for dance while supporting herself financially. She funds her dance classes and dance exams by working part-time at a café and taking on dance gigs like this. Her dedication is truly inspiring, but she must learn not to neglect her health and wellbeing while immersed in university studies and dance.

Alycia’s Internship & Travel Plans?
As for Alycia, she has been busy with her internship, which means she has temporarily stopped working part-time at the café until her internship ends in three months. But I have a strong suspicion that she’s secretly planning another overseas trip! My mother’s intuition tells me she has something up her sleeve. Well, I say, go for it! It’s the best time for her to travel before she officially starts working either at the end of this year or early next year. She should explore the world while she still has the freedom and flexibility to do so.

All in all, it’s been an eventful week filled with ups and downs, but I’m taking it all in stride. Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend ahead!

Lunner for Cass on Tuesday ~ roast chicken breast, air-fried yellowfin sole fish fillet with teriyaki sauce, black pepper, and mirin, stir-fried spinach with garlic, and steamed Japanese sweet potato. She still has a 24-hour fast almost daily, and I’m still amazed how she can do it. She seldom eats in school but has a heavy meal back home. What you see here is just a part of her meal. She has subsequent courses to it!
