Random Happenings at Home This Week

This week has been a whirlwind of activity and emotions in our home, with each day bringing its own unique challenges and moments of reflection.

Sherilyn has been pushing herself to the limit, working tirelessly on her architecture assignments. The models she had to build demanded hours of meticulous effort, leaving her with barely three hours of sleep each night. She’s been so consumed by her work that she hasn’t slept on her bed for almost a week. Watching her go through this makes me feel exhausted on her behalf.

I’ve tried to persuade her to consider switching to a less intensive course—one that won’t deprive her of much-needed rest and sleep. However, Sherilyn remains determined to pursue architecture, even asking me to pay her fees for the next semester. While I admire her persistence, I can’t help but worry about the toll it’s taking on her health.

Over the past few months, Sherilyn’s health has been a growing concern. She’s fallen ill multiple times and needed to visit the doctor for medication. A month ago, she also saw a dermatologist to address a bad bout of acne flare-up—something that has never happened before she started this course. She also needed to see our physiotherapist to address a backache issue, which resulted from hours of sitting and drawing, as well as sleeping on the couch and floor.

As a mother, all I can do is pray to God to protect Sherilyn from major illnesses and to grant her the strength to endure this demanding journey. I hope she, along with my other two daughters, will make the right decisions in life and live with no regrets, always in good health.
