4 Spring Cleaning Tips for Any Time of the Year

As a busy mom, whether you work from home or split your time between the professional setting of the office and your house, it is understandable if you sometimes feel as if you are always putting out fires rather than making choices. Cleaning is clearly at the bottom of your list of priorities, but our environment can make a big difference to our mood and attitude. So, to combat this feeling and help you feel more in control, here are four spring cleaning tips for any time of the year.

  1. Clean from Top to Bottom

In most family homes, the downstairs rooms tend to become messier and untidier than the top, due to the communal nature of their key functions. However, one of the most important things to remember when cleaning is to always work from top to bottom.

This approach is far more logical and prevents the need for you to re-clean any of the rooms downstairs due to the dust and debris being pushed downwards.

  1. Guard Against Potential Allergies

Even though allergies such as hay fever are far more common in the spring and summer months, and whether you are aware of a specific allergy or not, it is always safer to spring clean wearing gloves, and for more security, a face mask too.

If you intend to use one of the many brands of heavy-duty cleaning products, make sure you read the label and, obviously, store such toxic substances during the cleaning process far away from any curious little fingers.

Furthermore, an even better idea would be to either invest in or hire a steam cleaner, which is the greenest possible product to use for cleaning and provides the following benefits:

  • Steam mops not only clean the floor but sanitize it too
  • Steam cleaners can be used on tiles, appliances, countertops and the oven
  • Steam cleaners only use water, it is heated to around 100 degrees to produce steam
  • Steam cleaners make for a more environmentally friendly home

  1. Do Your Future Self a Favor!

Even if you are one of those people who thoroughly enjoy spring cleaning and love nothing more than organizing your M&Ms into groups of different colors before eating them, there really is no point in creating more complicated tasks than they need to be.

For example, next time you are ready to invest in a new piece of furniture, look for durable, easy to maintain yet incredibly stylish and fashion-forward pieces from innovative designers, such as ligne roset Hampsted

  1. Don’t Avoid the Kitchen!

Finally, it is universally agreed upon that the two rooms in any home that are more difficult to spring clean than the others are the kitchen and bathroom. It is important, for hygiene reasons, if nothing else, to never neglect the former.

Go through your cupboards, pantry, refrigerator, and freezer, and throw away any expired produce before thoroughly cleaning the inside of each unit. Remember to spray and wipe down the exterior doors of your cabinets too, and to use gentle cleaners on more fragile surfaces such as the hob of your oven.
