Self-confidence is essential because it helps you be happy and successful in your professional and personal life. While some people are naturally confident about themselves, some lack this trait. There are various reasons why you may lack confidence, including the following:

  • Poor or abusive relationship
  • Unhappy childhood
  • Depression or anxiety
  • Poor performance at school
  • Stressful events in life like losing a job or separation from a partner
  • Pain caused by a medical condition

The good news is that there are ways to overcome the lack of self-confidence. Some of them are simple, while others may require a change of habit that could take a long period to develop.

Get help from a medical expert

If your low self-esteem is caused by an underlying medical condition, such as anxiety, get the help of a professional. These experts will give proper diagnosis and treatment. Once you feel better, it will also be easier to feel good about yourself.

Say positive things to yourself

Feeding yourself with negative words can drown you with those unhealthy thoughts, and it’s what you will believe in. You may feel worthless, unspecial, unpretty, and whatever things you tell yourself. Be kind to yourself, and start saying positive words instead of negative ones. Tell yourself that you are beautiful, worthy, lovable, kind, intelligent, and all things good.

Take care of yourself

As mentioned, you will feel more confident if you feel good about yourself. You can do this by adopting a healthy lifestyle, such as eating a balanced diet, having enough sleep, and exercising. Using beauty products to enhance your appearance also helps in boosting your confidence. An example of this is using a moisturizer like CBD day cream. It has the potential to hydrate your skin, prevent sun damage and even your skin tone.

List the things you achieved, and you excel in

One of the reasons why you may lack self-esteem is you may think that you don’t have achievements or you’re unsuccessful. Although you may not be in your ultimate goal yet, do not overlook the victories you had, no matter how small they are. Jot them down, and keep the list with you so you can go through it when you’re feeling down. It will be an instant confidence booster. Also, keep in mind that everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. Do not lose confidence because of the things you’re not good at. Instead, think of the things you excel in and do them, as it will make you feel more confident. Moreover, you can gradually work on turning your weaknesses into strengths. For example, if you are uncomfortable mingling with other people, you can work on your social skills by joining a club at school or work.

Do not compare yourself to others

It’s a sure way to kill your confidence. If you look at other people’s achievements, you may feel that they are way ahead of you. Instead, focus on your journey. Every person has a timeline. As long as you work hard to improve yourself and reach your goal, then you are on the right track.

Make it a priority to build your self-confidence as it will help improve all areas of your life. Also, choose to be around positive people, as they can encourage and inspire you with their mindset.

Sourdough Starter Story – Part 2

Cass’ sourdough starter was finally ready after 2 weeks. Cass who has never baked anything before in her life, followed an online recipe and prepped the sourdough bread dough. But she made several blunders, which resulted in the sourdough being binned. What an unexpected sad ending 🥴

Blunder #1 – Cass left the dough to proof at the balcony in the afternoon and only remembered to bring it in at about 11 p.m. She over-proofed the dough.

Blunder #2 – When she brought the dough back at night, she dropped the bowl on the floor and it was a huge porcelain bowl! Dang it, it was 11-ish p.m. and I was dead sleepy and half dozed off on my work chair but the sound of the bowl breaking into a zillion pieces jolted me up and I was fuming.

I left Cass to clean up the mess herself. We usually clean up her messes together but I realized that if I continued helping her, she will become very reliant on me. And it’s only going to make her less careful and less responsible in future.

Blunder #3 – After cleaning up the broken glasses on the floor, Cass salvaged the dough and told me that she would still bake the bread just to see if it turned out well, but the bread would not be for consumption. It would only be for photography purpose for her Biology project. The dough had pieces of glass all over and she kept the dough in the fridge.

Blunder #4 – The next day, Cass forgot to bake the bread. By night time, she finally remembered about the dough and wanted to bake it. This child of mine!! Sherilyn warned Cass that the bread was surely going to fail. Anyone could tell that the bread would not turn out well.

I stopped Cass in her tracks and convinced my strong-willed child to discard the dough. It’s going to be a waste of money and time baking the bread that could not be consumed.

Since there’s still a little sourdough starter left, Cass has to continue feeding the baby so that it will thrive and grow into healthy, bubbly and active starter again. She says Knox is now gone and she will give her baby another name 🤣

Sad ending for Knox.

How To Stay Comfortable At Home

White Curtains on Window Wall

They say home is where the heart is, and your dwelling should be a place where you feel relaxed enough to simply be. It is the place you can retreat to when you need somewhere to unwind and recharge. If your home is not quite the safe haven it should be, there are a few ways you can find solace within your four walls. Here are a few top tips to help you stay comfortable at home.

Stay Warm With an Efficient Central Heating System

When it comes to feeling cozy and comfortable, body temperature can play a huge role. When you are too hot or too cold, you tend to experience feelings of lethargy and you may feel a bit off-color and irritable. Finding the optimum temperature at home is the key to comfort, and staying warm can help you feel happier and healthier. Keeping your home warm requires a reliable central heating system that works properly. If yours isn’t up to scratch, you need to find out why. GJS Plumbing and Heating is a family run company based in Thurrock that provides a range of plumbing and heating services. The firm has qualified engineers who can install, repair and service central heating systems. Visit gjsplumbingandheating.co.uk for more information.

Declutter Your Home

A disorganized, cluttered home can induce feelings of anxiety and stress. Decluttering and deep cleaning can have a cleansing effect on the mind and make you feel more relaxed. Not to mention, it will help you identify items that can be thrown out, or recycled. By decluttering and cleaning, you will create newfound floor space, and your home will feel like new again.

Create a Cosy Ambiance

Lighting can make a huge difference to the ambiance of a place. The right light can create a cozy atmosphere in the home, which is why it is important to pick the right lighting for each room. Simply switching up your light bulbs can have a transformational effect on the tone of a room. If you can’t seem to relax in your living room or fall asleep in the bedroom, it could be that you have the wrong type of light bulb. To create a relaxing tone, make sure you light up your room with bulbs that give off a warm white glow. You can add more light fixtures, such as bedside table lamps and sconces, to help you create the right vibe.

Implement Smart Technology

When it comes to ultimate comfort in the modern home, smart technology is the way forward. From the lights to security, you can control many different functions around the home. Smart central heating controls and thermostats are an efficient way to implement smart technology into your way of life. With a simple voice command or the slightest touch, you can control and maintain room temperature. In addition, smart thermostats can be rigged to pick up behavior patterns and adapt to your temperature preferences. This helps to ensure that your home feels comfortable at all times. Not only can smart technology keep your house at an optimum temperature constantly, controlling fluctuating temperatures can help reduce energy costs.
