Haru D Princess has a ravenous appetite. She’s truly a Yap family cat coz, like the Yaps, she loves food. At slightly over 6 months old, she still needs 4 meals a day! Sometimes even more with treats in between. We’ve tried to cut down at least 1 meal in a day but this fella kept purring and jumping onto our dining table and kitchen tops to scavenge for food. Even after feeding her a packet of wet cat food, she will look for her biscuits jar, swipes the bottle and tries to open the jar. Oh gawd! But surprisingly, she’s not fat. In fact she looks kind of scrawny.
The other day I took out a bowl of hot pork and herbal soup and left it to cool under the fan on the dining table; then went back to work on my PC. Haru D Greedy was out of the cage and I forgot! Minutes later when I turned back to get my soup, Haru had already jumped up the dining table and when she saw me, quickly stole a piece of pork from my soup and ran to the piano to gobble down the piece of hot pork! She’s not even hungry but she just happens to love pork. And chicken, bread, pau and cakes. So whenever we’re eating these, we have to be very careful not to leave them unattended to on the dining table for they will surely be gone within minutes! Unfortunately bread and pau are not well tolerated by her stomach. She’ll get sticky poop if she eats too much wheat flour products.
I thought only stray cats from the back alleys behave like this? I used to hate stray cats as we always had fish and meat missing from our wet kitchen. Why do indoor domestic cats who are well fed act like this too? 😹
