Dah Makan Online Food Order

I never have full confidence in online food delivery as previous experiences had left a bad taste behind. Same goes with so-called home-cooked daily food catering. Maybe I am persnickety but that’s just my girls and me. We’ve had enough of bad experiences to even trust online food delivery now.

When I was approached by Dah Makan online food delivery to give their healthy menu a try, I was pretty apprehensive too. But looking at the pictures and ingredients  used in the Dah Makan website, I was pretty impressed. Being a health freak who is very anal with what goes into my food, I was impressed that Dah Makan serves only healthy food with  healthy ingredients and herbs used.

Dah Makan whips up only one specialised dish each day, for lunch and dinner. This makes it easier for quality control and the chef only has one dish to focus on each day. Thus, the quality and taste of the food are superior.

Ordering online from Dah Makan was a breeze for me. The website is very easy to navigate.

On the day that my lunch box was to be delivered to me, it rained in the late morning. A customer service rep. emailed me to inform me that my order will be slightly late due to bad weather. Nonetheless, my lovely lunch box was delivered to me by 12 noon.

The packaging was pretty impressive too and came with a set of disposable plastic cutlery.

Within minutes that it arrived, my 3 girls, as famished as feral dogs did  not even bother to use the cutlery provided and pecked on the food with their bare hands!

The chicken was really flavorsome and my girls and I just couldn’t stop pecking on the chicken with our bare hands haha!  Within minutes, the entire box  of food was gobbled down. Even the sauce that came with it was tasty and was suggestive that everything was prepared with much thoughts and effort, with care given on ingredients used.

Check out the chestnut and parmesan stuffing on each slice of chicken. Mmmmm, I liked that!

Our Friday (Eve Of Alycia’s 12th Birthday) – 4 December 2015

Breakfast of roti telur, tosei rawa, tosei tisu and teh tarik with Susan koo por (grandaunt Susan) at a mamak restaurant…

Image may contain: 4 people

Then did some shopping for our trip at Guardian Pharmacy and more shopping for some items requested by SILs and MIL in HK.

Later, Alycia and Sherilyn went to Mid Valley Megamall with grandaunt Susan and granduncle James to watch a movie – The Hunger Games : Mocking Jay Part 2.  Just a moment ago, Alycia called me to inform me that they are watching another movie with grandaunt and granduncle. That sure is a movie marathon for them! They’re going to have dinner at Mid Valley, which leaves Cass and I to have dinner ourselves with another grandaunt later at a nearby eatery 🙂

Breakfast & Dinner Today – 2 December 2015

This morning, I was greeted by 2 forlorn looking over ripened bananas in the kitchen counter. And a bag of wholemeal bread too.  I wanted to bin the bananas but hey, they are imported bananas and cost over RM7 a bunch! We will be away for a one-week vacation and I had better clear all the perishables in my kitchen.  Suddenly, I had a light bulb moment! The first menu that struck me was caramelized banana french toast! I remember how delish this dessert was in one of those fanciful cafes that the hubs brought us to not too long ago.

After my 22 laps in the pool and a warm shower, I spent 15-20 minutes in the kitchen to whip up a yummylicious Caramelized Palm Sugar Banana And Nuts French Toast.

Directions:

  • Heat up butter in non-stick pan.
  • Beat eggs in a plate. You can add some fresh milk or cinnamon but I did not have these in my kitchen.
  • Dip slices of bread into egg mixture allowing the bread to soak up the eggy goodness
  • Place the soaked slices of bread onto non-stick pan with butter over medium heat and fry until golden brown on both sides.

5. Once the bread slices are done, in the same pan, add more butter and pour some palm sugar syrup. Lower down heat.

6. Add in bananas (sliced into halves) and nuts. I used toasted almonds, pistachios and walnuts.  Let the bananas and nuts sizzle for about 2-3 minutes under low flame. Be careful not to burn the syrup.

7. Serve immediately while it’s still hot.  I added a scoop of Sunnyside Farms strawberry ice-cream to clear the box from the freezer.

And dinner…

This will be my last home-cooked dinner for this week as well as next week.  Our kitchen will be closed until we are back from Hong Kong on 14 December 2015.  I’ll be busy the next 3 days doing X’mas shopping, last minute errands and packing for our trip 🙂

Benefits Of Hydrogen To Our Body

Hydrogen is natural and easily absorbed by the body. No side effects and suits all ages. Treats a host of illnesses and yet is the best natural preventative treatment. There are scientific researches done on hydrogen. You can  google hydrogen and read more on how it can treat a host of illnesses.

That’s why I always have a packet or two of hydrogen water in my bag, wherever I may be.  My friends and team members bring packets of hydrogen water along with them when they travel overseas by putting the loose packets of  hydrogen water into a suit case and checking in into the aircraft. I also have customers who regularly bring back packets of hydrogen water back to their countries after purchasing them in Malaysia. Some of my friends have even put one or two packets of  hydrogen water into their hand-carry bags when they board the plane.  So far, no issues with Immigration. I am going to do this too when I fly to Hong Kong this Sunday.

You can email shireenyong@gmail.com to find out more about hydrogen water in  aluminum pouches.

Home-cooked Dinner – 30 November 2015

It was a last minute preparation, with only half an hour for the marinate sauces to seep into the chicken boxing.  My bad.

I find that I am so much lazier during school holidays and so much more efficient on school-going days. I find that when I sleep in an additional of 2 hours a day, my days are SO much shorter and I get so little work done! Well, I can’t have the best of both worlds. If I get ample sleep, I lose out on time for accomplishing tasks.  Money can wait. Work can wait. But our health can’t wait. My body is screaming for 7-8 hours of sleep each day for it to repair and to perform optimally. I can only repay all my sleep debts during school holidays. If only God could give us an extra of 2 hours a day, that’ll be awesome!! 🙂

So back to my home-cooked dinner yesterday. It was a dinner executed in under an hour.

Below: Pan-fried red snapper fish coated with coriander powder. Coating a fish with flour / powder reduces oil splatters.  Once fish is fried, I fried some minced garlic and drizzled some soy sauce on the pan with the leftover oil.  Pour sauce onto fish.

Below: Chicken Boxing marinated with soy sauce, cracked black pepper and palm sugar syrup. This is super yummy and the girls can never get enough of grilled chicken boxing.

Below: Organic broccoli blanched with oil and sea salt.  Sweet corn steamed together with rice in rice cooker.

Cost of dinner = below RM40 and to me, it’s considered a budget dinner for four.

How much does your dinner cost per person? Times are bad. I’m striving to learn how to cook more budget meals 😉
