On our Labour Day holiday, hubs brought us to Limapulo to indulge in some good and authentic Nyonya food.
Nyonya specialities steal the spotlight at Limapulo on Asian Heritage Row, KL.
Limapulo is co-owned by hubs’ buddy, also named Alan. If you have been following my blogs long enough, you would have read that Alan co-owns several restaurants, of which I have previously blogged about his other eateries. He is a former model, celebrity and now entrepreneur. Very humble and down-to-earth, we have known Alan for decades, since he was a school boy!
Me, the girls and Alan kor kor — that’s what the girls call him. As you can see here, Cass was in a foul mood at that time.
The first dish that arrived was the award-winning Nyonya Laksa Lemak.
”Simply irresistable: The Nyonya Laksa Lemak at Limapulo. Baba Can Cook contains only fresh ingredients, making its preparation a tedious process. ” – The Star Newspaper
Living up to its recent Star People’s Food Awards, the Nyonya Laksa Lemak at Limapulo is indeed superb! The spiciness level is mild. Initially, we ordered only a bowl, thinking that the girls would not be able to stomach the spiciness but we had to order another bowl when they could not stop slurping on the meehoon and gulping down the addictive curry broth, leaving none for hubs and me!
At only RM9.90 a bowl, the Nyonya Laksa is a hearty bowl of creamy goodness, composing of a generous serving of meehoon with fishballs, fishcakes, shredded chicken, fried tofu puffs and tofu skin, julienned cucumber and half an egg. The sambal that accompanies the noodles is superb as well and gentle on our sensitive tummies. Even young kids can tolerate the spiciness. The paste used in the laksa comprises no less than eight core ingredients such as shallots, galangal, turmeric, candlenuts, dried chillies and lemongrass, but the preparation takes a lot of work.
Hearty platter of Cucur Udang with fried tempeh, fried tofu, cucumbers and hard-boiled eggs, perfect for those on a low-carb diet.
Ayam Berempah rice set.
Pai Tee (Top Hat) @ RM2.50 each – hot from the fryer with delish filling and a fried prawn on each hat.
Nasi lemak
Refreshing cool Cendol and Ice Kacang with my favorite gula Melaka.
With so much food placed on the table, total bill was less than RM100, which is a steal, considering that the restaurant is located at a prime area in KL. Most of the items on the menu are very reasonably priced.
It looks like I have found an eatery that cooks up delish spicy food at such reasonable prices. The girls and I love spicy food and we can’t wait to go to Limapulo again to tuck into their authentic Nyonya food.
The owners have also opened another outlet in Intermark called Limabelas. It is located at LG Floor (near Jaya Grocer).

From Limapulo, we segued into Butter & Beans @ The Row (also owned by hubs’ friend), located just next door, so that hubs could complete his meal with a cuppa gourmet coffee and cakes!
After a heavy lunch, we proceeded to Quill City Mall. Hubs brought the girls for a movie – The Avengers : Age of Ultron and I did some retail therapy! We had a very blissful and satisfying Labour Day holiday. And for me, I couldn’t be happier knowing that we will have 3 more days of public holiday running consecutively, woohoooo!! 😀
