RGB At The Bean Hive

After the appointment with my OB & Gyn on Thursday (NOPE, it’s not what you think!), we met up with some friends at a new cafe nearby.

From the facade of the bungalow-turned-cafe, it looks unoccupied and nondescript. No one would have guessed that inside is a cafe that sets to serve one of best coffees in town.

As the name suggests, RGB (which stands for ‘Roast Grind Brew’) roast, grind and brew the coffee beans themselves with their own sophisticated coffee machine.

When we went to RGB on 28 August, the cafe is not  fully operational yet. Workers were seen installing fixtures and furniture. The lady owner gave us a very hearty welcome. She was warm, polite and very accommodating to our requests.

RGB serve only healthy food, which is just the perfect place for moi!  In fact, it is a great place for kids to have their meals too.

RGB use no MSG, no artificial seasonings, have no microwave oven and serve no meat.

We went there just at the right timing when RGB was having a soft-opening discount where everything in their menu was priced at only RM10!  What a steal for healthy and delish meals!

With a few other health freaks joining me at the dining table that day, we ordered everything on the menu.

We even ordered a second helping of some of their items such as their delish pumpkin soup which Cass loved to bits!  This I allowed her to drink bowls after bowls knowing that it is free from MSG and is not salty nor artificial.  Their breads are made in-house.

Fans of the healthy tempeh (fermented soy bean cakes) will love digging into this Tempeh Lettuce And Tomato BLT coconut oil wrap. Yes, their wraps are in-house made too.

I have to say that I love this hummus with homemade bread.  I love the broccoli, cabbage and raisins salad too.  The mayo in the salad is in-house made too!  Can you believe it? Oh man, I love this place.

We ordered another bowl of broccoli-cabbage-raisin salad after tasting the first bowl.  Even Cass who did not like raw salad loved it!

Vegetarian burger.  The ‘meat’ is roasted eggplant.

Egg Fritata with salad (at foreground)…

Aglio E Olio – a simple meatless noodle dish, yet bursting with natural aromatic flavorings from the fried garlic and chilli infused olive oil and parsley.

Take-away Pesto pasta for Alycia.  When we commented to the lady owner that this tasted ‘too homemade’ and bland with not enough sauce and salt, she gladly brought this back to the kitchen to have it improved with more sauce and roasted veggies!

A cup of strong-roasted latte for hubs and me.  I can never gulp down the entire cup of strong coffee all by myself as I will get a caffeine rush with headache, nausea and heart throbbing!

I would love to go to RGB again  but for my meat-loving hubs, he will probably accompany me there for the first round of food before adjourning to another eatery to satiate his craving for meat! LOL!
