Our Sunday – 3 November 2013

Today has been yet another very satisfying retail therapy day for moi! After the first round of retail therapy at Gardens and Mid Valley yesterday, today we first went to Tesco to get some household items and then adjourned to Pavillion for lunch and another bigger round of retail therapy for me muahahaha!

Before I started my 2-hour long retail therapy cum mall walkathon, I recharged my batteries full with some sumptuous Japanese food at Tonkatsu by Wa Kitchen at Pavillion. Hubs had been to this restaurant with his friends recently and was pretty impressed with the DIY ground sesame sauce. He wanted us to try something different with a kick, thus Tonkatsu.

As usual, before the food arrived, Alycia and Sherilyn were busy burying their faces into the new books that I bought for them.

The girls had their first experience grinding toasted sesame seeds with a wooden pestle in a ceramic mortar.

Here’s the ground toasted sesame seeds with the special Japanese Worcestershire sauce poured over, used for dipping the fried stuff or as dressing for the raw cabbage.

The hubs ordered 4 sets of food and each set came with a mountain high pile of super fine julienned raw cabbage.   The ground toasted sesame sauce went perfectly well with the raw cabbage and I was SO happy when hubs told me that the raw cabbage was replenishable free of charge!  I of course quickly walloped my pile of cabbage like a cow (oh well, I was born in the year of the ox!) and asked for another mountain high pile to graze on.

Below is a meal perfect for  health freak mommy – high in fiber and raw veggie, high in protein and low in carbs.

The Hire Katzu Zen (RM 29) breaded pork fillet cutlet is Tonkatsu’s specialty.  You will see this dish on almost every table.  The deep fried pork cutlet ain’t too greasy and was super crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

All our sets came with a bowl of miso soup that had lots of ingredients – pork, mushrooms, onions and carrots.

This is my replenished mountain high pile of raw cabbage. I finished  my bowl of ground sesame sauce with the cabbage.  I really loved the fresh and juicy super thinly cut cabbage.

After lunch at Tonkatsu, I hurriedly darted across the road to begin my almost 2-hour long shop-a-thon cum walkathon at Uniqlo and H&M whilst the girls  had several other rounds of ice-creams, juices and cakes with daddy. And yes, another round of book-buying for them at TIMES book store.  Everyone was happy.  Retail therapy and food therapy are indeed the all-time best stress buster for me 😀
