Saturday Dinner – 30 November 2013

We had a very simple dinner of home-cooked fried rice at home today. The hubs has been busy this week, thus unable to have dinner with us this Saturday night. My kitchen is usually closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Five days of cooking is enough for me. I had wanted to bring the kids to the Japanese restaurant at our condo to have dinner today but the thought of eating the same old food again did not appeal to me. Plus the thought of paying 15% service tax totally put me off! So I made fried rice for the girls and they loved it!

fried rice

My fried rice composed of Basmati rice, fresh sweet corn kernels, minced pork, a pack of fresh baby shrimps, sausages, eggs, scallions and loads of garlic and small onions. The only seasonings I put were a few shakes of soy sauce and pepper.   I love putting generous amount of garlic and onions to cook my food as they impart flavor to my food, without the need to use much seasonings. Plus garlic and onions are potent roots known to have medicinal properties.  As I used Basmati rice, which is low in GI, I ate a few spoonfuls of fried rice as well.  My dinner is usually very light and I try to avoid carbs in the evening.  I cook for my kids and I only nibble on the dishes.

I cooked a little extra fried rice tonight and kept a portion in the fridge, so that the girls’ dinner will be settled tomorrow.  Sunday is my rest day and I ain’t going to slog in the kitchen and get oily all over 😛

The baby yau mak veggie was oil-blanched, which saved me the trouble of stir-frying. Veggies briefly blanched with oil and a pinch of salt in the pot of water are very palatable and my kids have no complaints eating them.

I am sure many of you are already on vacation or simply having a staycation. For us, we will stay put in KL for another 2 weeks, before our trip to Singapore.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Friday Evening Fun

Alycia and I had our Friday evening ‘escapade’ again today. While Sherilyn and Cass were attending art class, we quickly sneaked off to the night market to gobble down a few skewers of fish balls and meat balls on the ‘look look’ van. We did that last Friday and Alycia enjoyed it so much that she asked me to bring her to the pasar malam again this week to snack on ‘look look’, which are actually junk food in disguise of fish and protein. I can name you a long list of really unhealthy ingredients in the so-called fish and meat balls but… I ain’t going to pour cold water on fish ball lovers, me included haha! Anyway, we all cannot be overly clean. Our bodies need some dirt, bugs and ‘foreign substances’ to get immunity to illnesses. Well ANYWAY, we enjoyed our junk junk look look very much – just Alycia and me, dipping the balls in boiling water and chewing away the chewy fish balls by the roadside with pearls of sweat dribbling down our forehead haha!

Chicken Adobo And Homemade Mashed Potato

I made Chicken Adobo and mashed potatoes (at the request of the girls) for dinner tonight.

It was my first time cooking Chicken Adobo, which is a Filipino dish. I saw this recipe in Nami’s Just One Cookbook the other night and since I had all the ingredients plus it was super easy to cook plus I love Apple Cider Vinegar, I emailed the recipe to my own inbox so that I will remember to cook it tonight!  Nami is my favorite Japanese recipe blogger. She is a Japanese American and she writes fantastic Japanese recipes with detailed step-by-step instructions and photos.

I adapted Nami’s recipe by reducing the soy sauce and apple cider vinegar and I added Agave Nectar, to suit my kids’ taste buds.

chick adobo 1
Ingredients:
4 chicken thighs with bone and skin. I used 3 boneless thighs with skin and one thigh with bone and skin. That was all I had in my freezer today.

SAUCE:
200ml soy sauce
1.5 cups water
200ml apple cider vinegar – I use Bragg’s and have been drinking this for over a decade
1 bulb of garlic, sliced
Freshly ground black pepper
About 1/4 cup of Agave Nectar

Instructions:
Rinse the chicken with water and pat dry with paper towel. Combine all the ingredients for Sauce in a large pot (I used my free pot from Melaleuca). Make sure the pot is big enough so the chicken will not overlap each other.

Bring the sauce to a boil on medium high heat.

Add the chicken and reduce the heat to medium low. Cover and cook for 30 minutes.

Flip the chicken once half way through.

In her recipe, Nami used the broiler to grill the chicken. As our broiler is at hubs’ shop, I used the oven.

Heat up oven and transfer the chicken into the oven. I placed the chicken on an oven tray lined with aluminum foil. I used a kitchen paper and dabbed some oil on it and rubbed it on the aluminum foil, so that the chicken will not stick to the foil.

Grill the chicken for 3-4 minutes on each side. Keep an eye on the chicken so it does not burn.

Meanwhile turn up the stove to high and reduce the sauce until it thickens (Be careful not to burn) – I skipped this step. Read below why I skipped it.

Serve the chicken on a plate and keep the extra sauce in a small bowl. Brush/pour the sauce right before you serve.

I kept the cooled down sauce in a pot and kept it in the fridge. With the left-over sauce, I am going to make another round of Chicken Adobo next week as the kids LOVED this AMAZING dish!

The chicken thighs sizzling in the pot of soy sauce, apple cider vinegar and garlic slices.  The aroma from the pot was HEAVENLY!  The kids just couldn’t help running into the kitchen to inhale the aroma and to check out the chicken.

chick adobo 1- in pot

Here they are, enjoying their delish Filipino Chicken Adobo with homemade mashed potato.  Cass and Alycia helped to make the mashed potato.  My mashed potato is  another appetizer that is very easy to prepare.  All you need are potatoes, fresh milk, pepper and salt.  Mash up the potatoes, mix everything together and enjoy!

chick adobo 2

Here is another very easy to prepare dish – free from oil splatter and using just a few ingredients.  You can make more sauce and store it in the refrigerator so that you can  easily prepare this dish again  on days when you are running busy. Happy trying! 🙂

Grilled Agave Nectar Soy Sauce Chicken Drummets

This is another super easy to whip up dish that is really lip-smacking, which I’ll bet kids and adults will love – grilled honey soy sauce chicken drummets.  In my case, I replaced honey with agave nectar.  Agave nectar is a healthier alternative to sugar and honey. It has lower calories, lower GI and has medicinal properties.  I use agave nectar in my cooking and even use it as a bread spread or pancake dip.  It tastes like maltose and maple syrup.

honey agave soy chick

All you need are:

1) Chicken drummets – I only had 7 in the freezer, thus this recipe is for 7 mini drummets
2) 1/4 cup honey or agave nectar
3) 2-3 tablespoons soy sauce.  I only use about 2 tablespoons as this is meant to be a kids’ dish.
4) About 2-3 teaspoons of pepper. I girls love the taste of pepper, so I used more.
5) Sliced garlic (optional)

Method:
After washing the chicken drummets, pat dry with kitchen towel.
Pour honey or agave nectar, soy sauce and pepper onto chicken drummets and mix well. You can keep the chicken drummets in a ziplock bag in the fridge. I did not use a ziplock bag but marinated the drummets in a stainless steel mixing bowl.
Place marinated drummets in fridge for a few hours or even overnight.
Place drummets on a tray lined with baking paper or aluminum foil. The part with thicker skin should face up so that it gets a nice grilled/brown color.
Pre-heat oven at 160 degrees Celsius and grill for 20 minutes or until the drummets skin turn into a nice golden color with a little tinge of burnt on the skin.
If you wish to have garlic, toss in the garlic on top of the drummets about 10 minutes before you turn off the heat.

The drummets tasted exactly like barbequed chicken and my girls gave me a 10/10 rating and A++ for this super-easy and sweat-free dish!   They are already bugging me to cook this dish again and I’ll have to get to the supermarket to get a few punnets of drummets. This time, I’ll make double or triple recipe 😀

For Once

For once, my camera-shy girl asked me to snap a picture of her when she tried on Sherilyn’s glasses to clown around.  During the school holidays, when she is free from homework pressure, this girl has a way cheerier disposition vs. grumpy and crabby on school-going days.

If she sees this picture in my blog, I am certain I am going to hear her howler “mummy, why is this in your blog??!”

After the pix were snapped, she told me “don’t you dare put my pictures in your blog and Facebook!”

I have betrayed my daughter. Oh well… just hope she does not get to see this post muahahahahaha *evil grin*

goodie 2 shoes - 2

See the desktop computer in the girls’ room?  That was once mine and I gave it to the girls.  I bought a new desktop computer for myself.  Alycia and Sherilyn will have more projects to work on next year, of which the marks will be incorporated in the calculation of their position.  Thus, the girls will now have a computer each to do their projects without having to fight over the miserable laptop, like they used to.

SO, how do you like her new look?  I told her she looked like a goody two shoes haha!

Electromagnetic Acupuncture

On top of the daily therapy exercises on the fitball, trampoline, gripping exercise and pelvic floor exercise, Cass went for her first electromagnetic acupuncture session on Tuesday to treat her bladder issue.  Though I have read that acupuncture and electromagnetic acupuncture can be effective in treating weak bladder issues, I am not sure if it would work on Cass. But I am willing to take a gamble and hope to get a ‘windfall’ with her issue being resolved in the shortest possible time.

Sat 19 Nov - 4

As always, Cass was as brave and tough as ever, without shedding a drop of tear.  The treatment can be very painful at certain points of the body and even hubs and I had to cringe in pain at certain points.  For me, the most painful point was on my thighs and for the hubs – on his back. On the head, it felt as if there were a bunch of crabs with sharp claws clawing bitterly on my scalp. Painful yet ticklish. I sought treatment for my daily hand numbness and hubs sought treatment for sports injury.  Cass did not even utter a single sound, except for clenching her fist in pain.  My brave little soldier.  She is indeed the bravest and toughest cookie I have ever met.

Blog Revamp

For the past 2 weeks, I have been facing infinite number of issues with this blog and my Health Is Wealth blog.  According to the host, my blogs have been infected by some malware. Both the host and I have been doing a lot of checks, trials and errors and no permanent solution could be found for my blogs.  You know, I treat my blogs like my children.  They chronicle the daily happenings of my 3 girls.  My blogs are 6.5 years old and I created them when Alycia and Sherilyn were toddlers and Cass was not even created yet.  Last night, the host finally told me to uninstall the WordPress from my blogs and to reinstall them.  When that was being done and I could not see my blogs anymore, I felt like my kids were kidnapped from me.  They finally came back a few hours later but the blogs were in haywire… I felt as if my kids were severely hurt after their ordeal!  This blog only has some pictures – which were uploaded from  Photobucket and Facebook and then previously copied to this blog.  The rest of the pix that were uploaded in this blog were all gone!  I felt like a part of me has been ripped off.  The host is still working to salvage all the pix. If this fails, I will have no choice but to upload them all over again.  One. by. one!  Gawd, this is like a nightmare to me.

You will also notice that I have no choice but to install a new theme.  And this time, I finally have the chance to upload the latest picture of my 3 girls on the header. Yay to this!

The blog host and I are still working round the clock to salvage as much as possible from the old blog. So do stay tuned for more updates 🙂  Oh yes, yesterday Cass went for her first electromagnetic accupuncture to fix her bladder issue. I shall blog about this soon.

Heart-Shaped Babybel Cheese On Crackers

Today Alycia finally had the time to enjoy her breakfast leisurely without any rush to go to school, tuition, church or anywhere!   She took out a Babybel cheese from the fridge and a pack of Meiji crackers and cut the cheese into small pieces for her crackers.  Then she called out to me… “mummy look, it’s awesome!  See my heart-shaped cheese on crackers!”

 photo Heartcheesecrackers_zpsbd6533b4.jpg

It is heartwarming to see Alycia enjoying her food without any rush. For me, it was rushing off a breakfast as usual and I got ‘taxed’ by 2 rascals.  I always get ‘taxed’ by rascal #2 and #3 for whatever I eat. Well, it is a blessing in disguise as I am ‘taxed’ of the calories too muahaha!  And the 3 of us (Alycia, Cass and I) had a very leisure lunch of roast chicken and my mum’s chicken pie together just now.  We needn’t have to rush off our lunch for the next activity. This is one of the things I enjoy during the school holidays.

Homemade Japanese Potato Salad

The girls had been bugging me to make Japanese potato salad since months ago. I had been putting it off until their exams were over. Actually it ain’t  very difficult or very messy  to make potato salad. It is just time consuming since there are lots of peeling, cutting, boiling, mashing and mixing involved. Thankfully I have an earnest helper who volunteered to help me out 🙂

 photo potatosalad2_zps9c606858.jpg

The ingredients needed are:
3 hard boiled eggs
7-8 small red onions cut thinly
5 huge potatoes – boiled and mashed. You may want to leave some unmashed for texture
1 carrot – chopped into small pieces, placed in a bowl with a little water and placed in the microwave oven for about 1 minute to half cook them. You can have it raw but I prefer to half cook it so that my fussy eaters will not complain of hardness.
Japanese mayonaise to taste
Sea salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
1 or 2 cucumbers, cut into small pieces.

 photo potatosalad1_zps2da8859d.jpg

Mix all the ingredients in a big bowl. I divided the ingredients into 2 bowls to better manage the mixing part.  1 bowl was for immediate consumption and the other bowl wrapped in cling wrap and placed in the fridge for consumption the next day.
 photo potatosalad3_zps3889905f.jpg

I also grilled 2 slices of salmon fish with lots of chopped garlic, seasoned with pepper, Lea & Perrin sauce, dried Italian herbs and sea salt.

This potato salad goes well with crackers or even bread, if you are not in the mood to eat rice.   While it is very yummy and can be very addictive, it ain’t the ideal meal for weight watchers and diabetics as potatoes are very high in carbs.  I tried really hard to stop myself from taking the 2nd and 3rd helping but what the heck, a moment of neglect does not mean a lifetime of regret if this is not taken daily.  My dinner these days are really light, consisting of lots of veggie, soup and a quarter fistful amount of meat. I cook for the kids, not for myself actually.

The girls enjoyed their dinner tremendously and begged me to prepare both dishes again!  YUMS!!

And Finally, The Report Cards

As the final school term is fast drawing to an end, with just 2 more school days to go, the much awaited report cards came back for tiger mommy to review and sign!

Sherilyn brought back her report card yesterday. She also helped to pick up Alycia’s report card from the teacher. Alycia has been on sick leave for 2 days, including today, after the day-trip with her school to Sekinchan on Saturday. This morning I went to Cass’ kindy to meet her teacher and to collect her report card.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the girls’ marks and position this time.  Alycia and Sherilyn’s wish came true and they are going to the class that they have wanted to go to.   Alycia’s ‘standard position’ improved significantly, though her marks for the test papers are pretty much the same this time, with improvement in some papers and a decline of a few marks for some papers.  Alycia’s class position remains top 5.

Sherilyn’s marks, class position and ‘standard position’ improved considerably this time.  From almost rock bottom in the mid year exam, due to a B in her Chinese test paper, she has climbed up fast and furiously this time. However, she still needs lots of polishing in her Chinese language subject. It will not be easy to remain in this class for Sherilyn next year if she does not work hard enough, especially in her Chinese language.

Cass has shown remarkable improvement academically too. From an almost zilch reading skill at the beginning of this year, she has now mastered the Sukukata (phonics in Malay) very well.  Her reading in English is also improving. Her thirst in reading suddenly grew overnight in the past one month.  She scored 100 in her BM paper and the rest were high 90s except for a 77 in her Chinese test paper. Chinese language is a subject which is pretty tough to master. It is even harder for our kids as both the hubs and I are yellow bananas — yellow skin on the outside but white in the inside like ‘gwai los’ lol!

Sherilyn will continue to attend the after-school enrichment centre next year.  She is VERY happy there and she comes home a very happy child every day.  There is lesser whining from her and she has so much to tell me about her friends every night.  She is also learning well from the enrichment centre. Right now, both Sherilyn and Alycia are looking forward to the trip to Kidzania organized by the enrichment centre.  As for Cass, I will have to ask the Mandarin tutor to drill her more starting from now.

I am going to put aside school books and exam stress for the next 2 months and am looking forward to enjoying the school holidays with the girls! 😀

Preventing Cancer as a Family

“Prevention is better than cure”, we have often hear this, but how many of us actually practice it? All of us are aware of the threat posed by cancer, and there are actually many simple ways that we can practice together as a family to lower the risk of getting cancer. Adopting a healthy lifestyle together with your family members not only keeps you healthy, but can be fun too! 🙂

A new initiative by AXA AFFIN, in collaboration with National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM), aims to increase awareness and will be supporting cancer patients currently undergoing treatment. AXA AFFIN will fund the NCSM daycare usage to one cancer patient for every blogger that links back to AXA AFFIN 110CancerCare website in their effort to care for cancer patients. So, it’s really time to raise the awareness of cancer prevention starting from your own household. Here are 4 simple tips:

1) Do not smoke
Tobacco is the major cause of lung cancer. The best way to prevent lung cancer is to never start, but if you do, it’s never too late to quit. Adults in the house should know that second-hand smoke can cause lung cancer too, so establish a smoke-free policy at home. Also, make sure your children understand the danger of smoking since young. Many people first
started smoking due to the influence around them. So make sure your children are able to make wise decisions when the time comes.

2) Maintain a balanced diet
According to statistics, obesity among children is on the rise. Obesity should be treated carefully as it can cause many health problems, and is one of the factors that lead to an increased risk of cancers in adults.  Our dietary habits are formed since young, so the best way to maintain a balanced diet is to make it a habit for your family starting from your children. Avoid having too much fast food; instead, eat more veggies, fruits, and grains! Reduce the intake of salt, sugar, alcohol and red meat. Sometimes we might go overboard with these “feel-good” foods. You can search for fun and healthy recipes online, healthy diet need not be boring and bland.

3) Be active
Be physically active at least 30 to 60 minutes per day. You can think of fun activities to do as a family. It doesn’t have to involve heavy workouts like running or rock-climbing, just a simple walk or a fun outdoor game can achieve the same effect. Regular exercise improves digestion, allows for stable level of hormones, and bolsters the immune system. And for the mums and dads, it’s a great way to maintain a lean and healthy look too! 🙂

4) Take Supplements
Nowadays, there are many supplements to choose from, and they are available for all age group as well. Folic acid, Vitamin D, Iron and Multivitamin are recommended to lower the risk of getting cancer. Do consult your pharmacist for the ones that are most suitable for your family.

Oven-Grilled Onion Chicken Chop

Here’s another oven-grilled meat dish that I whipped up for the girls. My most critical and persnickety daughter said “mummy, I’ll give you an A+++ for this dish!” That sure was a very motivational remark to make me dish up more delish oven-grilled meat dish for them 😀

Picture below shows the chicken before the 25-minute grill in the oven.

 photo chickchopb4grill_zpsb9e30311.jpg

The big onions over the meat effused such natural sweetness to the meat that for a moment, we all thought that the meat was honey glazed.  I did not marinate the chicken with any sugar or honey.  The boneless chicken meat was marinated with Lea & Perrin sauce, oil, black pepper and mixed herbs.  I also tossed in lots of chopped garlic over the meat before grilling.  Because of the juice from the chicken which gave moisture, the garlic and big onions were not burnt at all.

The oven-grilled onion chicken, which tasted very much like barbequed chicken, super yummy!
 photo chickchop7nov_zpsd4f43ec8.jpg
And there was also a stir-fried veggie dish with fish paste and meat balls, naturally seasoned with lots of chopped garlic and onions – my 2 favorite natural flavor enhancer.

What Do You Do If You Are Grossly Overcharged For Some Avocados?

Get a refund!! Though it may cause you some inconveniences of having to make a trip back to the mall.

Yesterday, I bought 2 pieces of avocados from Cold Storage at The Gardens.  They were RM3.99 each.   I should be billed RM7.98 for the 2 avos but the cashier keyed an entirely wrong code during checkout and the hubs who paid obviously did not check the bill. Oh, that’s the thing with men. They are just born without that attention to details.

When I got home and unloaded the groceries while checking the  price of the label on the plastic bag, my eye balls almost popped out from the eye socket when I saw RM19.80 printed on the sticker.  It should have been only RM7.98 but hey, Rm19.80 is grossly overcharged!!  I retrieved the receipt and told the hubs about it and told him that we just had to make a trip back to the supermarket to get back a refund. Meanwhile, I called the number printed on the receipt, spoke to 2 persons in charge and was told to return to Cold Storage within a week to get back a refund.

Today, we went back to Cold Storage. While the hubs and the girls waited for a table at Han Room for dimsum, I quickly made a dash to Cold Storage to get back my  money.

Thankfully, the person in charge was very helpful.  She said that I could buy the 2 avos that I bought yesterday at today’s reduced price of Rm2.99 each. This means a savings of Rm2!  Seeing that the price has been reduced from Rm3.99 to Rm2.99 each, I bought 3 more avos.  The refund that I got back was more than enough to pay for the 3 avos that I bought today!

 photo Avoovercharged_zps0b12d517.jpg

So the moral of the story is – if you have been grossly overcharged  and you think it is still practical to make a trip back to the mall, do it and get back your refund. It’s worth it.

On a side note, today is not a good day for Cass and Alycia.

Alycia fell sick after an entire day of school trip to Sekinchan with the year 4 students in her school.  She was roasted under the scorching hot sun and came back with bad sun burns on her face, neck and hands.  She now has a cough, gastric pain and feels feverish.  Oh gawd, I think this girl has got my bad genes.  I am allergic to the sun and will fall sick if I am exposed for prolonged periods under the sun!

And Cass injured her lower gums and loosened her tooth when she bit onto the chopsticks while eating fishball *OUCHHHHHHH*!!!!  She cried and it really broke my heart into pieces to see so much blood and a slightly shaky tooth :(((

See in the below picture, she had no more appetite to eat dimsum and had to eat Gardenia white bread as it is soft enough for her to chew on her traumatized gums and tooth :(((

Herbs And Garlic Grilled Black Pomfret Fish

My girls and I love fish, especially if it’s pan fried BUT I hate frying fish. I suck at frying fish and can never fry a fish perfectly. This makes me miss Dyah, our former helper more. She used to help us fry fish for dinner almost every day. These days, I have been using the oven a lot to grill meat and fish. That’s because I hate to fry them using the wok or non-stick pan. I hate the oil splatters. I normally grill salmon and mackerel but yesterday, I tried grilling black pomfret fish for the first time. And it turned out fishylicious!

Here’s my oven grilled black promfret fish with lots of chopped garlic, oregano and parsley herbs, ground black pepper, oil, garlic salt, sea salt and  a few dashes of Lea & Perrin sauce. All the ingredients were slathered on both sides of the fish.

Preparation time : 10 mintues

Grilling time in oven : 25 minutes (uncovered on a greased baking paper laid out on a baking tray. I used Knife peanut and sesame seed oil)
grill black pomfret

The girls prefer oven grilled fish over pan-fried fish as the meat of oven grilled fish is tender and juicy vs rough and dry meat if pan-fried. Best of all, there ain’t a single drop of oil splatter, except that I have to lightly wipe the oven after use.  I use Sol-U-Mel from Melaleuca  (which is non-toxic) to wipe the inside of the oven to remove the fish odor.

I’m really happy with the taste and texture of this grilled black pomfret fish 😀   Busy mums and dads who want to dish out sweat-free delish homecooked food for your little ones in a jiffy, do give this a try too!

Our Sunday – 3 November 2013

Today has been yet another very satisfying retail therapy day for moi! After the first round of retail therapy at Gardens and Mid Valley yesterday, today we first went to Tesco to get some household items and then adjourned to Pavillion for lunch and another bigger round of retail therapy for me muahahaha!

Before I started my 2-hour long retail therapy cum mall walkathon, I recharged my batteries full with some sumptuous Japanese food at Tonkatsu by Wa Kitchen at Pavillion. Hubs had been to this restaurant with his friends recently and was pretty impressed with the DIY ground sesame sauce. He wanted us to try something different with a kick, thus Tonkatsu.

As usual, before the food arrived, Alycia and Sherilyn were busy burying their faces into the new books that I bought for them.

Pavillion 1

The girls had their first experience grinding toasted sesame seeds with a wooden pestle in a ceramic mortar.

Pavillion 2

Here’s the ground toasted sesame seeds with the special Japanese Worcestershire sauce poured over, used for dipping the fried stuff or as dressing for the raw cabbage.
Pavillion 5

The hubs ordered 4 sets of food and each set came with a mountain high pile of super fine julienned raw cabbage.   The ground toasted sesame sauce went perfectly well with the raw cabbage and I was SO happy when hubs told me that the raw cabbage was replenishable free of charge!  I of course quickly walloped my pile of cabbage like a cow (oh well, I was born in the year of the ox!) and asked for another mountain high pile to graze on.

Below is a meal perfect for  health freak mommy – high in fiber and raw veggie, high in protein and low in carbs.

Pavillion 3

The Hire Katzu Zen (RM 29) breaded pork fillet cutlet is Tonkatsu’s specialty.  You will see this dish on almost every table.  The deep fried pork cutlet ain’t too greasy and was super crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

Pavillion 4

All our sets came with a bowl of miso soup that had lots of ingredients – pork, mushrooms, onions and carrots.

Pavillion 6

This is my replenished mountain high pile of raw cabbage. I finished  my bowl of ground sesame sauce with the cabbage.  I really loved the fresh and juicy super thinly cut cabbage.

Pavillion 7

After lunch at Tonkatsu, I hurriedly darted across the road to begin my almost 2-hour long shop-a-thon cum walkathon at Uniqlo and H&M whilst the girls  had several other rounds of ice-creams, juices and cakes with daddy. And yes, another round of book-buying for them at TIMES book store.  Everyone was happy.  Retail therapy and food therapy are indeed the all-time best stress buster for me 😀

Exam’s Over And The Book Worms Are Out To Feast On The Story Books!

The girls are finally done and over with exams for this year, woohoooo!  Now is the time that they can bury their faces into their story books without limit. TV is still limited and must be earned and redeemed via good behavior *ROARS tiger mommy*

Today, we brought the girls to redeem their reward. I had bribed  promised them that for each test paper that they get a 90 and above mark,  that will earn them a story book of their choice.   After lunch at Zanmai Sushi, hubs brought Alycia and Sherilyn to watch Thor while I went retail therapy with Cass.  After their movie, hubs brought them to Borders to redeem their reward and bought a total of 5 story books 😀

So here they are at Alexis, chillaxing with pastas, cakes and a good story book to feast on.
