First Term Exam

Not even 15 minutes into revising for her exam and she’s already conked out!  That’s the problem with this girl of mine. She is the type who requires lots of sleep.  Should she be asked to do homework or anything that requires using her brainpower when she is sleep or nap deprived, I am sure to get scalded by her breath of wrath, which would send me hitting the roof. Just allow her a 20-30 minute brain-charging power nap and she will wake up being more recharged and more productive.

Today is the start of Alycia’s week-long first term school exam and I am hoping and praying that this girl will not be careless. Carelessness has always been her number one weakness and it has always been eating up her marks. If only she could be more careful and not rush off her work, she will fare very well. She still has to sit for exams four times a year while many schools only have two exams a year effective this year 🙁

Good luck in your exam precious baby!

How many exams do your kids have to sit for in a year?

  1. Oh, she’s in the KBSR syllabus, right? That’s pretty tough… even KSSR also not easy, compared to my time.

My girl sits for exams twice a year, think it’s standard for all students, no?

  2. Mery, thanks!

Irene, yes Alycia is in the KRSR syllabus and it is very tough, esp. in BM. For KSSR, I find that the syllabus is way easier than KBSR. I flipped when I saw Sherilyn (std 2 this year) doing letter tracing in her BM!! And when I looked back at the workbooks that Alycia did when she was in Std 2, it was way, way tougher. As for exams, I think those in KSSR only sit for exam twice a year. Then again, I think some competitive schools may still opt to have exams more than twice a year.

  3. We were overjoyed when my boy’s school announced 1st term exam would only start in April. Those joy bubbles burst when they announced it last week to push the 1st term exam forward to this Friday. Imagine the shock and mad rush! The only consolation is the 3x exams starting this year stays. 🙁

  4. Both my kids are under KSSR, but their principal requested for 4 times exam in a year. Sometime I feel 4 times exam coverage not much per each time, easier to study. 😀

  5. My gal is under KSSR and in SK but they don’t have any exams at all. Real bad , right? Can’t even gauge how much she is learning and because there are no exams, she don’t want to do much worksheets. They do have school based assessments but teachers don’t inform earlier when they will be assessed.

  6. Being in Chinese medium primary school, my girls have 5 exams in a year. all 5 exams are counted and the average would be the result for the whole year. The average result will determine which class they will be, the top 1-100 students will be in the 2 top elite classes, the rest will go to the ordinary classes. Very competitive not just among the students but more so among the parents..

  7. Alycia is very similar to my eldest Crystal. she too needs plenty of sleep.

for Crystal, after a good nap, the energy will spent on other story books and computer or handphone games..school homework and books never a priority. How about Alycia??
