Today we are all back to the grind after a 1-week CNY break, with me having to wake up at 5am despite getting very little sleep last night as it was Chor 8 (we call it the night of fireworks!), the most important celebration for the Hokkiens. I wonder how my 3 girls can sleep like a log when fireworks and fire crackers were blasting for hours till about 3am since last night!
I did 3 loads of laundry this morning (since 6:30am) and will have to file off my huge stack of documents accumulated for months, today. Business from my online store will be expected to be slow for the next 2 weeks and these 2 weeks will see me getting out of the house almost everyday to accomplish tasks that I have procrastinated for months and years.
Below are some pix taken on ‘yan yat’ (the 7th day of the CNY), which happens to be Sherilyn’s birthday this year. My princess wannabe was born on the 8th day of the CNY 8 years ago 🙂
With koong koong and granny…
This year, my princess wannabe decided not to be so princessy (for years, she had chosen Princess themed birthday cakes) and chose a Snoopy jelly cake (from Madam Lee’s Jellies) instead. The jelly cake tasted superb. After the cake-cutting ceremony, we shared our jelly cake with patrons seated next to our table as the kids from the 2 tables were gawking at the cake when we were all in the midst of laughing and cutting the cake. They couldn’t be happier and the parents from both the tables thanked us profusely.
We had dinner at Fong Lye Taiwanese restaurant @ Hartamas.
Our favorite deep fried big prawns with mayo sauce.
