The ‘Dilly Dalliest’ Girl Ever!

And the award has to go to my #2. I thought she would turn over a new leaf once she starts P1 this year but NO NO NO! On day 1 – 4 Jan 2012 she was fast. She jumped out from bed and finished everything quickly and was ready by 6:30am.  After a few days in school and eating salty + heaty school catered food (she told me that she was served very very salty french fries and her teacher forced the students to finish all the food), this girl who has a very sensitive throat fell ill – had throat infection, cough and slight runny nose. That’s when she started to look tired in the morning and just won’t move her butt in the morning. On Monday, she skipped school for 1 day. On Tuesday up until today, it has been torturous getting her to prepare for school. She would stare blankly and seems to be in a daze.  Sometimes she would put her head on the dining table and refused to drink her milk. In the bathroom, she would sit on the throne and day dream again. Inside the shower area, she would stand there holding the toothbrush and toothpaste but not brushing her teeth and not moving at all ….  while the shower water hits her body.  After a quick shower with my help, my helper and I have to dress her up like an empress.  I dry her body, button up her shirt and pinafore, while my helper feeds her with Scotts Emulsion and I will put on her socks and comb her hair hurriedly like we are contestants in Amazing Race, rushing to complete every stage!   While doing all these, I will be barking away with Alycia who is already ready and waiting impatiently, would stand alongside me to rush and scold her sister. For 3 days straight, she was late and the van driver was already here when we reached the lobby of our condo. SIGH!!! What am I going to do with this girl?? I hope this is not going to drag for another 11 years until she finishes Form 5!! I will surely suffer a stroke if this goes on every morning to no end. Maybe I should wake her up 15 mins earlier starting from tomorrow, which means that she has to be up by 5:45am everyday!

  1. Sheoh Yan, they go to bed by 930pm everyday, which is already at a record breaking early time. Must try to send her to bed by 9 – 915pm from today onwards!

  2. Dilly Dalliers. Well, there’s one in every house. My girl is the one in the house but yes, your girl does sound like she is not getting enough sleep. I am trying to get mine to go to bed by 8 but of course I have not succeeded yet because that will mean going to bed right after dinner. Sometimes they are still dilly dallying at the dinner table at that time.

  3. MG, you are so right! Even at the dining table, Ms DD would be slowly biting and chewing her food… walk around, fight and quarel a little with either her sister or kakak and after 2hrs, she will finish her food and that’s already 9pm sometimes!

  4. Poor girl as well. She has to wake up so early at this age. It’s not easy, but perhaps she needs to sleep earlier. My boy (std 1 now) sleeps at 8:30 p.m. just to wake up at 6 a.m. the next day.

  5. while reading your post, i tried to picture what you all had to go through and also Sher’s expression. Too funny 🙂 Guess she’s not a morning person eh? What time does she go to bed?

  6. Barb, she is just too ‘lau hei’, plus I think she needs time to adjust her internal clock to the new schedule. They are normally off to bed by930pm on school going days. Today, I forced them all to bed at 9pm. Hope she’ll not dilly dally and be late again tomorrow, sigh..

  7. Wow, your girl starts Std. 1 too. Been reading a few blogging Moms’ experience. School food sucks, doesn’t it?

I was telling my son about Std. 1 and he told me, “I don’t want to line up to buy my own food. I want you to pack food for me.” I think I will too or he’ll starve because he’s the “World’s Slowest Eater”.

I laughed at your post because it’s funny to think she’ll turn over a new leaf just because she starts Std. 1?

She doesn’t sound like a morning person so ya, turning in at 9 pm will help, I think.

FYI, I’ll be pushing 40 soon and I’m still not a morning person. Good news though, I turned out to be the most productive of my 3 siblings during school days 🙂

  8. Haha, i like the comment from mumsgather… dilly dalliers… there’s one in every house! Mine is Vic… and i’d bark at her, in the process really annoyed and say nasty things, and then when she eventually goes to school, I’m feeling all bad and remorseful… sigh!

  9. What to do… I think start waking her up at 5.30… Then she will have plenty of time to dilly dally around…
My girls wake up at 7am to get to their 8.30 class…
