Our Eve of The New Water Dragon Year

It was a breeze driving into Mid Valley City and it only took us under 5 minutes to get a nice parking space yesterday… for once! Many KL-ites had already left the city for their hometowns to celebrate CNY. This year we are staying put in KL again. We waited for almost 40 minutes just to get a table for lunch at the Han Room @ Gardens. I was already getting really impatient and found it ridiculous having to wait so long for a table but my foodie hubs, a fan of the Han Room was for once very, very patient waiting outside the Han Room. When my impatience got the better of me, I told the hubs that we should just eat in another restaurant. As I was walking to Hokkaido Japanese restaurant to check out the crowd, the hubs called me on my mobile phone, telling me that our table was finally ready but when I walked back to Han Room, the staff were still setting the table and there was another 15-minute wait. All in, I think we wasted an hour of our time just for a table to have our reunion lunch! Though the food is pretty pricey, this restaurant seems to be perpetually crowded and a long bee line is forever seen at the entrance of the restaurant.

Sorry, no pix of food taken as I was in no mood to snap pix. The long wait had dampened my mood and my tummy was rumbling. After satisfying my growling tummy, I was in a mood again to ‘start work’ and fished out my camera to snap a pic of the bill haha!

Here’s what we had and the price breakdown…

There were 2 portions of yee sang as the bigger portion was for our reunion dinner at a relative’s house that night.  I really think that the yee sang was way over-priced and the portion was pathetically meagre.  A few fistfuls of julliened carrots, radish, turnip, pomelo, crackers, sesame seeds, thick syrup and a handful of jelly fish need to cost RM68 meh?  Next year, I will make my own yee sang!

Very pricey for a lunch eh? And I wasn’t really satisfactorily full. Oh well, that’s what I had expected from this restaurant on the busiest day of the year.

After lunch, it was Borders again!! Daddy and I think that books are one of the best investments for the girls so buying them books is like a monthly routine now rather than a reward.

When my Geronimo Stilton craze girl read that free Geronimo Stilton ang pow packets will be given free for every purchase of 2 books, she begged me to get her 2 books instead of 1.

So this is Alycia’s CNY pressie…

Here’s wishing everyone a very, very prosperous, healthy and smooth sailing year of the water dragon!
