Just got back from a 3-day 2-nite trip in Malacca. I think that will be our last time traveling to Malacca during peak period. It is now the school holidays, Xmas + year end holiday for many locals as well as for many overseas tourists. The whole of Malacca town was jam packed. People were everywhere. Malacca was a sea of people and cars. Public toilets were filthy and wet, including the one at Equatorial Hotel lobby. Prices of everything shot up sky high. It took us over 3 hours to reach Equatorial Hotel in Malacca from KL, the hotel where we stayed in. As all the eateries were packed to the brim, we had McDonald’s on arrival… at 3pm! That night we wanted to go to Portugese Settlement for grilled fish as recommended by Chin Nee but the traffic leading to PS was horrid. Cars were lining up to go in but they were not moving… so we made a U-turn and headed to another eatery to eat. Thank goodness we could find a table and have our dinner at 9pm! On the 2nd night, we were just too scared to go out for dinner, lest we get caught for hours in the car again. So we had room service – food delivered to our room haha!
Taken at A Famosa – a place that’s rich in history
Jonker Street… another place that’s filled with people and vehicle at every space and corner when we were there.
Our dinner on the 2nd and last night – food delivered to our hotel room! What a way to spend our holiday in Malacca. Before the trip, we had planned what to eat and where to eat and were all so excited but we ended up eating McD and the terrible Western food in our hotel room! But on a more positive note, since I could not feast on fattening Nyonya food like I had imagined I would before the trip, thus I did not gain an ounce in weight, though I did not exercise for 2 days 😀
