The Downside Of Hiring A Transporter

Remember my post last month about the van driver who left Alycia behind in school and I thought she was kidnapped? Β  Β  Another drama happened in the van today. When Alycia came back from school today, she announced this to me “mummy, today Adrian vomited on me. He vomited on my clothes!” I quickly asked when she was puked on (on the way to school or after school?), to which she replied early in the morning, on the way to school. When I heard that, I went berserk and freaked out. OH MY GOD… how can my daughter have stinky vomit filled with bacteria on her clothes for half a day?? Β  She must have been so uncomfortable wearing a shirt that is damp, sticky, stinky and nauseating. Β She would have been bitten by the bug or whatever virus contained in the stinky vomit. I quickly dragged Alycia into the bathroom, showered her thoroughly with double dosage of shower cream and shampoo and scrubbed her shoulder (that’s where she was puked on) under running water. After that, I used very hot water to rinse her uniform and then soaked them in detergent.

Gosh, I hope this will never happen to her again. There were several previous incidences of kids who puked in the van and it’s her turn this time to be splattered by the stinky vomit! From today onwards, I will ensure that there is a packet of wet tissues and an extra set of uniform in Alycia’s school bag just in case unforeseen accidents like today’s happen again *knock on wood!*

  1. eewww!! poor girl gotto bear with the vomit smell for 1/2 day πŸ™ I can’t tolerate this, not even hearing ppl vomit else I’ll start to have nausea immediately.

  2. Don’t u think the school or the teachers have a responsibility to ensure the student gets cleaned up?? Of course the transporter is also responsible for letting the school know or phoning the parents involved (ie the sick child and the “vomittee”)?? I’d suggest, although it seems basic common sense, for the school to have a closet of spare clothes(can be donated by parents) for whatever incidences kids can get themselves into. I went thru this with my son…he could never leave a puddle alone and he would come home in pants abt 2 sizes too big which I washed that nite and returned to the school promptly. It was a weekly occurrence!

  3. Barb, I spoke to the van driver today. She said that when she asked the kids who got splattered by the vomit, Alycia kept quiet. She also said she washed the kids who kena the vomit. Don’t know if what she said was correct. Anyway, I’ve told Alycia that if this happens again, she should call me with the public pay phone or the school office phone so that i can bring her clothes to change.

Pei Wei, if I kena splattered with vomit on my clothes, I’ll puke too!

Chris, I don’t know if Alycia’s school has this facility or not. I know that my girls’ pre school has spare clothes all the time coz Sherilyn came back wearing over sized clothing several times when she was younger πŸ™‚ She had peed in her pants πŸ˜›

  4. This is terrible experience for Alycia. It is true that she should approach her teacher to seek for some cleaning assistance. Their school bag is already very heavy, it will be heavier to put a set of new school uniform in the bag.

  5. Sigh….we as parents cant really control these accidents,
My gal came home from pre-school few days ago with her spare clothes understand from the transporter that someone vomited on her at school. Guess what, my gal got sick and started vomiting last nite..probably due to the bacteria…scary ya.

  6. OMG……school teacher should let her change because school always hv extra uniform or give parents a call to inform. Can’t imagine wearing tht smelly dress from morning till afternoon….poor girl.

  7. actually the transporter should have informed you that adrian vomitted on alycia so you could at least have the option to meet aly in school to change her. i can’t imagine all the stench and filth and bacteria!
