Yesterday we made a trip to a nearby shopping mall to get Alycia a pair of new shoes and also to get my friend who’s getting married next week a gold jewelry as a wedding gift. I was happily shopping and just when I was about to pay, I realized that I had forgotten to put my purse into my handbag! My mum did not bring her purse out too! My hubs wasn’t with us too. Fortunately, I had some loose change in my handbag and I dug out all that I had to pay for the shoes and groceries. There was no money left to buy the gold jewelry for my friend. And I won’t have the time to make another trip to the shopping mall. It looks like I will have to shop for the gold jewelry or a gold bullion for my friend online. I wonder if the gold jewelry or the gold bullion can reach me within a week.
I remember I only started to ‘poa tin war choak’ or ‘boil telephone porridge’ which, in Cantonese literally means using the telephone for a prolonged period till the telephone becomes hot, when I was a teenager. Sherilyn who is only 5 1/2 years old has recently started to boil telephone porridge by calling her best friend in class, Berlyn Yong, who is a very pretty girl with long curly hair. One time, Sherilyn even chatted with Berlyn’s mother on her handphone when she was at work and when I found out, I spoke to Berlyn’s mother… who told me very nicely to ask Sherilyn to call Berlyn at home. What a cool and sporting mother Berlyn has. Berlyn also called my hubs on the handphone one day and he also entertained her. Now, they call each other every other day but I had to put my foot down when Sherilyn spent almost an hour chatting with Berlyn on the phone several times.
I can imagine and visualize how this 5 1/2 years old girl will transform into 8 years down the road when she turns into a teenager. I think she will even badger her yes-man daddy to get her a phone with her own fixed line or get her a handphone so that she can talk about boys, fashion and bitching stuff LOL!!
Caught on camera… sipping packet chocolate milk and boiling telephone porridge with Berlyn, when she should be taking her afternoon nap! Do you have a 5 1/5 yo kid who does the same?

This week is the 2nd week we are having catered homecooked food. And I think I am not going to continue. Let me tell you why and you can have a look at some of the dishes:
Steamed minced pork with preserved salted veggie. This dish was super duper salty… so salty that I had to spit it out!! Fried wantan – that’s the only dish that was edible, though I had qualms about the type of cooking oil the caterer used. Stir fried bean sprouts with tofu squares.
Stir fried spinach – which was too salty for my liking.
Deep fried spring rolls – check out the ‘wok loh’ (burnt residue from the wok), eeeeeuuuuu!!!
Each day, there will be 3 dishes — 1 ‘main’ dish consisting of chicken / pork, 1 veggie and 1 ‘miscellaneous dish’. The miscellaneous dish is normally something that’s cheap – fried wanton, fried spring rolls, spam meat, baked beans and other ‘instant’ dishes.
1) The dishes are full of ‘wok loh’ (burnt carbon residue from the wok). Carbon from burnt food is known to be carcinogenic (causing cancer). Every evening, I need to spend 10-15 minutes scraping off black stuff from the top of the food or use a spoon to dig out all the tiny black stuff from the food. Once done, half the portion of the food would have been thrown away!
2) Most of the dishes are a tad too salty for my palate
3) I can heat up ‘instant’ dishes myself – baked beans, spam meat (which I never buy actually), sardines, etc
4) It ain’t cheap at RM280 for 2 adults for 5 dinners a week only.
Conclusion : I will discontinue catering food after the 1 month period ends. Though I am still very busy with my online store, I think I won’t mind spending half an hour to whip up something that’s healthier for my kids… without any burnt carbon, excessive oil and salt and no canned food everyday haha!
Last Friday, hubs brought us to Chinoz On The Park @ KLCC for a buffet dinner. While the ambience is 5 star (facing nice view of the KLCC fountains and park), fantastic display of food, I would rate the food 7/10. With that price for a buffet meal, I would rather go to Lemon Garden @ Shangri La Hotel KL.
We had sashimi… this is not included in the buffet spread.
Alycia and Sherilyn enjoying their spaghetti…
Maki and California rolls. My girls just love these to bits but for me, I just don’t fancy eating rice + seaweed + cucumber. I find it a weird combo. I eat my California rolls without the rice 😀
The buffet spread included local delights,Western cuisine, a little bit of Japanese and Chinese cuisine. Nothing really whet my appetite. But this sinful carbo caught my eyes : sago pudding. My mum can make very yummy sago pudding and I ate loads of it during my childhood. I love my sago pudding with loads of fresh santan and gula melaka (coconut sugar), YUMS!!! But darn fattening!!!
After dinner, we took some pix at the KLCC park. A group of tourists from Iran stopped and asked me if they could take pix with my 3 angels :S
After the photography session, we did some grocery shopping at Cold Storage. By the time we got into the car, the girls were so exhausted that they dozed off…. and when we got up to our unit, they plunked onto the couch and continued sleeping. I had a hard time getting them to wash up and brush their teeth. That’s why I never like bringing the kids out at night.
