Alycia had forgotten to bring her school’s message book home one day and this spelt TROUBLE coz she wasn’t able to check the homework she had to do. Her school’s teachers are pretty strict and punishment will be imposed if students forget to do their homework or forget to bring a book. Alycia had forgotten to complete her homework (given on Friday, to be passed up on Monday) twice and her class teacher wrote a note on the message book — that I was to call her!! I freaked out when I saw the message! I have since entered this ‘complete homework’ reminder into my computer’s eCalendar, lest I forget to check her homework again hahaha!!
Anyway, back to Alycia and her message book. I was spoon-feeding Baby with water that afternoon. This Baby is not one who would willingly drink water and needs lots and lots of patience and threats to make her drink water. Alycia freaked out when she found out that she had left her message book in her desk in school. She pestered me non-stop to go to her school’s website right away to check what homework she was to do. This girl, when she wants something, she wants it right away and she cannot wait a wee bit. Let her wait, she will yak and nag to the point I am forced to grab some cotton wool and plug them on my ears haha! She dragged Baby away from me and volunteered to feed Baby water so that I could log on to her school website on the spot.
I really cannot recall being laden with such heavy homework everyday when I was 7 years old. Is your 7 year-old child also bogged down with a lot of homework from school everyday?
No. of times viewed = 670
wow! this is so stressful for both you & alycia!!! i didnt know that you can check for homework in website. so canggih!!!
I bet chinese school is a lil different. The method they used is the drilling method. I came from St. Mary and BBGS background, I don’t remember having so many homework when I was that young!
You’re lucky to have such handy helpers at home. The photo of Alycia feeding Baby C is so loving. And I also didn’t know you can check homework on the website!
Such a lovely photo, a sister’s love :-). You’ve got such handy helpers at home. And I too didn’t know you can check homework from the website… really really canggih now.
I dont know about homeworks for young kids but my 4 years old know what is homework. One day she just came to me and said teacher gives homework for her and she need to write all those alphabets in her exercise books. I still ponder whether it is true or she just been initiative but i let her write on her book anyway.
nowadays cant compare to our olden days oredi, as time passes by it will get tougher n tougher
Really stressful! I plan to send Elyssa to a chinese school too. But reading this post (and your previous posts on this matter) it sounds really tough on both kids and parents!
I would be the most horrible mother and yell at the teacher if she thinks she can just mete out punishment cos my 7 yr old forgot the homework. Honest! We have the website checking available too but mostly for kids who avoid homework and tell the parents they have none, and u go check the website to verify. Do parents have the authority to write a letter to the teacher to ask to excuse the kid if homework was not done for whatever reason? Are teachers all powerful? You know what they say..those who can,do; those who can’t, teach!
wow . school website that note down homework of the day ..
The school really high tech, can check online for homework.
Nope, my son does not have much homework. There are days where he got none at all. I have to give him extra. With so little homework, he still forgets to do it.
that’s sad to see a 7 yrs old stress like that 🙁
boy…seriously got such website??? can d teacher be so efficient in updating daily homeworks?? now i must explore my kids edi…
i’m spared fr these worries coz d tuition teachers took care of them 🙂
no time to be frank…
such a sweet che che……feeding baby water.
My son does not get much homework these days, some of which he finishes them in school. I now get to do revision with him everyday and no more last minute revision when exam comes. A relief indeed.
It’s seem very hectic drawn with such heavy homework everyday. She is such a lovely che che.
Being a suaku here, I didn’t know that the school website will have list down the to-do-homework for the students. Wah! An eye opener for me.
I think Chinese schools are more stressful with the never-ending homeworks. But then, it might be good to train up the kids to be more disciplined.
