I ran past the market-on-van the other morning and this chunk of siew yoke (roast pork belly) hanging on the van caught my eyes. I thought the most it would cost me was RM10 but when the seller told me the price, I almost flipped! Anyway, cost aside, this piece of siew yoke was really delish. The meat was very tender and juicy. It’s a piece of roast pork belly (siew larm) and the meat wasn’t tough or rough at all. My mil cut the siew yoke into smaller pieces and stir-fried them with garlic, soy sauce, sugar and chinese cooking wine, YUMS!
How much do you think this chunk of siew yoke cost me?

I never buy before but RM50? I love to eat it. :P~~~
I think it would cost at least RM20-RM30?? But I am sure RM10 can’t get such a huge piece la 🙂 🙂
errr.. RM23? anyway, u can make siew yoke at home also… i always do that… it’s cleaner and healthier… coz i can control the salt input. : )
Not as expensive as RM20++ lar. IT cost RM18 but that’s still very expensive to me. Oh well, maybe I don’t do marketing a lot, thus I don’t know the current market price. RM18 not expensive??
RM18 not expensive … to make yr own siew yuk. pork belly cost RM20 per kilo. a good piece will set me back RM50.. then the time, marinating, watching over the roast, the electricity . etc… and not to mention cleaning the oven… BUT… home roasted ones has crackling skin, melting fats and tasty meat.. So how ? would you roast or buy ? LOL !
May I ask whether the oil from the pork belly splatters all over the oven? I hate to clean the oven.
RM18 not expensive…the doc bill more expensive after eating. Hehehehe…
