How To Tie A Bun With Shoulder-Length Hair

Students who are to sit for their ballet exams are required to tie their hair into a bun. This is a pre-requisite in order to sit for the exam and the examiners are flown in from overseas. In some ballet academies like Jean Gan, they are pretty strict and even for regular classes, students must tie up their hair into a bun – strictly no hair straying on the head.

My first try with the bun with Alycia’s hair was not good. There was hair straying everywhere on her head. This time round, I wet her hair with water first, then applied daddy’s hair sculpting lotion on all her hair. When all her hair was wet, it’s much easier to comb, tie and clip up.

First, I tied her hair into a pony-tail with a hair band. As her hair is not long enough, I couldn’t twist the hair into a bun neatly. I had to use clips to fasten her hair in place before putting a hair net over the tied-up pony-tail like this:

After putting the hair net over the tied-up pony-tail, it now looks pretty neat. Next, I used lots of black hair clips to clip up the combed-back and gelled-up fringe, hair on the sides and at the back like this:

All in, I used 10 hairclips to fasten the hair on her sides, back and front.

Nothing Stays On Her Head

How long did this head band stay on my sweetiepie’s head? Any guesses? Well, it was only for a few seconds before this fler pulled it off. We were at Sinma the other day and I saw this cute little violet color hairband. I really wanted to buy it for my sweetiepie coz her hair was getting long and her fringe poking her eyes.  Besides, she would look really cute with a head band.  But, but, but, haiz…. wishful thinking for me, my sweetiepie hated it.  Haiz… next time, skip the hair accessories and just get her sunglasses!

Baby C Hates Wearing Bibs Now

It must be the hot and humid weather lately.

For the past several weeks, my sweetiepie has been removing her bib each time we put it on her during meal-times.

See her in action…. First she gives us that “mummy, I’m goooooooing to pull off my bib k?” look….

…”O_o the bib is already down. I’m good, ain’t I?”

….”I give you a cute look, don’t scold me k?”

How to scold this cute little bubba you tell me? Even clipping her bib with hair clips doesn’t help. This fler has mighty strength to pull off just about any bib – button, velcro and ribbons bibs!

Notice her high-chair?  It looks pretty bare eh?  The weather has been so frigging hot lately that we’ve removed the colorful PVC padding.  I’ve now placed a thick towel and small pillow under her butt to prop her up.

Alycia’s Trial Ballet Exam Again

Today is Alycia’s mock-up ballet exam again. Yes, again! This is the second mock-up exam in a month. This time, invitation has been extended to parents to watch their little ones dance. I wonder why there are so many mock-ups! For pete’s sake, these little ones are only toddlers! I feel bad that I am unable to attend the mock-up exam. I keep consoling myself that in a year’s time when Baby C is a little grown up and hopefully recovered from kidney reflux, I can get back my long-lost freedom and can be part of my 2 older girls’ activities more. Anyway, Alycia has daddy, mah mah and Sherilyn to watch her in action and to give her moral support today.

This morning has been a mad rush for me. After fixing my 3 girls  breakfast and hurried Sherilyn to quickly finish off her breakfast, I gave Alycia a quick bath. Then, I spent half an hour gelling up Alycia’s hair into a neat bun. This time round, I managed to fix a very neat bun without any hair straying on her head. Shall blog about this next. By the time Alycia, Sherilyn, daddy and my mil left the house, I was all sweaty again, though I had taken a shower after my jogging session this morning. I took another shower before giving Baby C her bath. Baby C is now soundly asleep. The house is now so peaceful and quiet, save for the sound of the water trickling in our water fountain on our balcony. I feel kind of lonely now. Ah, how nice would it be if I were now on a New York Sightseeing trip with my girls and hubby. Yeah, how nice, dream on!

2 wannabe-graceful ballerinas. Since last night, my vain-pot has been reminding me that she wanted to wear this sexy floral dress to her cheh cheh’s trial ballet exam. Doesn’t she look like she’s going for some sort of audition? Malaysian Idol? Hahah!

They still need lots of training to be graceful ballerinas. Check out their ultraman poses!

Alycia has to wear this pair of short pink socks for her ballet exam.

Terrified Of Her Green Bowl With Eyes

Baby C is terrifed of this bowl :

Look at the stone look on her face!

We bought this bowl for Alycia from Ikea a few years back and it’s supposedly a frog in the shape of a bowl. It comes with a matching plastic crumb-catcher bib and a froggie cup.

When I used the bowl the other day, my sweetiepie cringed and cried whenever she saw the 2 eyes on the bowl!

I had to turn the bowl to the side without the eyes so that she would stop crying…. but it was funny and hilarious seeing her cry each time she saw the eyes on the bowl, hehehe *evil mommy*

Does this bowl look that terrifying huh?  My sweetiepie seems to be afraid of any toy that has huge bulging eyes. A few months back, daddy bought a huge battery-operated and remote control-operated green ant that can emit sounds for Baby C. The toy ant can move like a robot and my sweetiepie was absolutely terrified of the toy. Even at the mention of ‘green ant’ would make her cry. We have since kept the green ant coz Sherilyn the menace kept scaring her baby sister with the toy.

High Metabolic Rate

I wish I could just eat and eat to my heart’s content and not gain a pound or an inch on my waist. Some people are blessed with high metabolic rate and no matter how much they eat, when they eat and what they eat, they just won’t gain weight, just like my mum. She is a rice and carbo lover but yet, no matter how much she eats them, she just won’t gain weight. My mum even has to drink ensure at least twice a day to help her gain weight. I always tell my mum how envious I am of her slender body and being blessed with the gift to just eat and eat and not gain a pound all her life.

Free Massage For 2 Days

Woohoo…. I am feeling refreshed all over coz I’ve just got free massage for 2 days straight – last night and just a while ago. And here’s my personal masseuse, doing home massage for me :

Alycia doing the finger-tips massage technique on my beat-up leg.

Just as I was about to put Baby C to sleep last night, she poo pooed. After breaking my back washing her bum, I told Alycia who was in my room how painful my back was. Without any hesitation, Alycia quickly voluntereed to massage my back! I was still busy putting the diaper on baby and told her that she could massage me later. But this very eager filial daughter of mine insisted that I lie down on the bed so that she could give me a good massage.   Seeing how earnest she was, how could I turn down such a good offer eh? I then put baby back in the playpen and let her massage me.

First, she massaged my legs, then my hands, head and body. It was a full-body massage! Alycia even asked for my Rosken dry skin relief cream and applied them on my body, hands and legs as she massaged them… something which I did not even tell her to do! I tell you, this 5-year old girl is a fantastic masseuse!  She even has a few techniques from squeezing to ‘chopping’ to shiatsu, to using her knuckles, to using the finger tips massage technique…. hahaha!!  She must have picked up the techniques from the urut lady who came to massage me recently… albeit the urut lady didn’t use such many techniques.   And throughout the massage, my sweet Alycia also gave me hugs and kisses, isn’t she sweet?

The ‘knuckles massage method’, which I taught her…

The shiatsu method lol!  See how serious she was in her job hahaha!

Sherilyn also insisted on massaging me but this cheeky and playful fler gave me more stress than anything! I asked her to massage my buttocks, which she did but she kept laughing and said my buttocks were ‘dancing’ when she kept using her fingers to poke them, gawd!  When I asked her to massage my head and temples, she slathered loads of cream on my face and hair and pulled out a handful of my hair. Gosh, I tell you, I was steeeeressssssed and in pain!  She even used her elbow to put weight on my ribs, haiyoh…..  When I told her to stop massaging me, she cried pulak…. aiyoh!

Nonetheless, it was really fun to have my 2 precious angels massaging me on my bed, with Baby C giggling away when she saw us laughing and having fun throughout the 15-minute massage last night and today.

Down With The Sniffles Again

I’m having the sniffles again, darn it. This is the forth time in 2 months that I’m down with a cold. What’s happening to my immune system? I have never ever been this susceptible to catching the cold and flu all my life. What boggles me is that I’ve been eating very healthily and have been religiously popping on my health supplements every single day. Could this be due to stress, anxiety and lack of sleep or could this be due to the fact that I’m breastfeeding and all my nutrients have gone to my baby, hence my compromised immune system? It’s pretty frustrating to be ill all the time. I used to be the healthiest and sturdiest in the family before Baby C came along but ever since her birth, I have been the weakest and the first one to catch the flu bug if anyone in the house is down with a cold or flu.

I wish the hubs would take turns to help me with Baby C at night so that I can get uninterrupted sleep, for at least a few nights in a week. He used to help me with Alycia and Sherilyn when I was still working and needed to get up early for work. Ever since I left the corporate world, the responsibility of caring for the 3 kids at nights is pushed back to me completely ‘by default’. I should tell him to take over Baby C from tonight onwards, at least for 2 nights so that I have sufficient sleep and can recover speedily. I also wish I could hop onto a Car Service NY ride and have a nice holiday. Nothing beats the stress better than a nice break.

Spoilt For Choice

Bread lovers will surely go gaga when they see the wide range of breads, jams and bread spreads at the buffet breakfast at the Sudu Coffee House at Hilton Sentral Hotel, KL.

There were over 20 types of bread…

…and over 20 types of jams and bread spreads from jam for the diabetics to Vegimite, Canola butter spread, peanut butter, marmalade, apricot, raspberry, strawberry, Nutella and much more.

But I was so stuffed after eating an omelette, some sausages, ham, dim sum and 2 huge cups of delicious hazelnut yoghurt with raspberries and apricot that I did not have room for even half a slice of bread.  When I dine in hotels, I rarely touch the bread as eating bread is such a ‘sai toa wai’  (a waste of space in the tummy), coz the space can be used to store other better food LOL!  The fresh-from-the oven, hot banana muffins with sunflower seeds were also very tasty and I managed to wolf down one muffin by myself.

Can’t wait for my next stay and breakfast at Hilton Sentral…. which will only be next year. It’s our yearly affair there with the kids for the past 3 years… cheap and nice holiday!
