Toe-Sucking Baby C

The Chinese old wives believe that when your baby begins to suck his/her toe, the mummy will soon have a sibling for the baby. I didn’t believe this crap when my mum told me this but now I am beginning to believe this myth. Alycia began sucking her toes when she was 5 months old and a month later I got pregnant with Sherilyn…. coincidentally. Now that Baby C is beginning to love feasting on her toes, I better be careful as I don’t, absolutely don’t want to end up with #4!

Gardenia Butterscotch Bread

The other day, I read from Elaine’s blog how delightfully delicious the Gardenia Butterscotch bread is. So off I went to get a loaf the next day. While Baby C and I loved it, Alycia found it yucky. She even gave me a ‘I want to puke’ look when she saw this in her lunch box yesterday:

I had spent so much time trying to make the Butterscotch bread look as enticing as possible by making cheese sandwich with the bread and cutting them with a Hello Kitty bread/cookie cutter that my sil bought from Hong Kong. But she hated the Butterscotch bread.

From left : Butterscoth bread with cheese wrapped with cling wrap, organic animal biscuits, Pooh Bear shape honey plum and oranges.

The set of Hello Kitty bread/cookie cutter that my sil bought from Hong Kong.

So am I going to buy the Butterscotch bread again?  Maybe not maybe yes. I actually like it and it’s quite addictive when you start eating a slice. You’ll end up nibbling on it non-stop and it’s really fei sei lor!

Teaching Baby C To Read And Recognize Objects

That’s my daily morning routine with Baby C. While my maid sits Baby C on her lap to feed her breakfast, I will be flashing cards to her and pointing out to things in the house to her. She seems to enjoy her flash cards and object-identifying sessions every morning. Experts say that the best time to teach a child is when he/she is an infant. The window of opportunity will close by the time the child reaches 6 years old. So, I’m just making full use of the window of opportunity while making meal times a fun time too.

Baby C Loves Purple Sweet Potato Bread

The other day, hubby bought a loaf of purple sweet potato bread from RT Pastry House, our favorite bakery. This bread tasted so good and all the kids, including Baby C loved it. I loved it too and kept nibbling on it… fei sei ngor lor!! The bread was sweet, soft, fluffy and… fattening! But who cares, eat first and exercise later lar. What’s life if I can’t even indulge in food that I like right?

Baby C’s bowl of purple sweet potato bread.

Baby C seated on kakak’s lap as she fed her breakfast… and she kept pointing to the bread and wanted to grab the bread. That’s how yummy the bread was.

Why I Must Exercise Every Morning

My hubby, he has a habit of buying cakes, doughnuts, buns and tit bits but not eating them. Being in the food industry, he just loves food and loves buying them. Whenever he passes by our favorite bakery, he will surely step inside and grab some cakes and buns. Each time he picks Alycia and Sherilyn up from the dance center after their ballet class, he will bring them to the bakery opposite the dance center and then go on a shopping spree, buying cakes, tarts, buns and whatnots. I have to keep reminding him not to buy anymore cakes and bread as our freezer is always packed with frozen bread that he kept buying.

The weird thing with my hubby is that he rarely eats what he has bought and I always end up gobbling down all those sinful sweet treats that he has bought. My maid is also another lucky beneficiary of those sweet treats. That’s one of the reasons why I have to force myself up early every morning to work out. I need to burn off those extra calories and to prevent myself from getting diabetes. Diabetes runs in my family so I better be watchful of my diet and have to exercise to prevent getting diabetes. I should even get myself a Diabetic Life Insurance, just in case I’m stricken with this debilitating disease *knock on wood!*

Homemade Croutons

Hubby’s aunt made the gals a loaf of white bread the other day. However, the bread was a tad dry and the gals didn’t quite like it. It just didn’t taste like the Gardenia white bread, their favorite white bread. So I kept the bread in the freezer and decided yesterday to make some croutons so that Baby C could eat them with her meds. Before I put the bread into the toaster, I cut them into small cubes. To make sure that the croutons did not get burnt, I had to keep tossing and turning them.

The result? All 3 of my gals love the crunchy croutons and kept asking for more.  I’m going to make another batch soon.
