Just Another Quirk Of Sherilyn’s

Sherilyn has definitely inherited my taste buds for she just loves bread but hate rice. Eating rice was also a torture for me since young but my parents and maternal grandma were very strict. I had to eat what was served on the dining table, definitely no choosing bread, noodles or rice everyday, even had to force myself to swallow food which I disliked and definitely no walking around, fussing and whining during mealtimes, else I would surely be whipped! I was also much more obedient and feared being whipped.

Anyway, times have changed. I am not that harsh with my kids but I am still a strict disciplinarian. Friends and relatives always tell me that I should just starve Sherilyn if she doesn’t want to eat what I serve her. If she doesn’t want to eat her plate of rice with dishes, by all means, keep the plate of food after an hour and don’t even fix her milk later. When she’s hungry, she will eat whatever is served on the dining table the next day. But still, I can’t do it.

When my mil is not around to help me coax Sherilyn to eat her dinner, I take the short cut out. I serve her whatever she requests on most days, which are bread and noodles. Sherilyn never gets bored with these 2.  This brat loves to have lots of kaya and chunks of butter on her bread.  And here’s just one of her dinners of bread with dishes :

Rice replacement dinner – Bread with kaya and chunks of butter with chicken and baby french beans.

She even uses a pair of chopsticks to eat her slice of bread. Now that’s pretty quirky isn’t it? But oh well, that’s just Sherilyn’s individualistic, very Sherilyn, for she just loves to be different and loves to do things that draw attention!

Awesomely Sexy And Elegant Swimsuit!

If only I weighed 43kg, which was my pre-Baby C weight and had a 32-25-32 vital statistics again, I would really badger the hubs to get me a Norma Kamali swimsuit, as shown in picture above. I stumbled upon this awesomely elegant and sexy swimsuit when I was surfing the net today. But I doubt I will ever achieve this weight and vital statistics again, at least not within the next 1 year. As long as I am still nursing Baby C, there’s no way I can go on a strict diet to shed off the remaining super stubborn 3kg. Moreover, I am already so used to eating and snacking for almost 2 years (9 months preggers with Baby C and 1 year nursing Baby C), I think it would be really difficult for me to curb my appetite and shrink my expanded guts overnight. Hopefully after I have weaned Baby C off my boops, my appetite will decrease too. The first rule to beating the bulge is to reduce calories intake, so if I really want to wear that Norma Kamali swimsuit, I got to be really steadfast in controlling my food intake. It’s pretty hard when I live in a house where everyone just loves eating and they live to eat lol!

I Made You A Cake Mummy

Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you…

Happy birthday to mummy
Haaaaappy birthday to you!

My princess wannabe didn’t give me anything but a handmade Lego birthday cake on the eve of my birthday on Saturday. She even asked me to blow the imaginary candles on the Lego cake!

As for Alycia, she drew me a birthday card (well, it’s actually a picture of a birthday cake with the words “Mummy I Love You” on a piece of paper. And she dug out one of the souvenirs that her koo mar bought for her from Disneyland recently and gave it to me! She said she has no money to buy me a present, so she took the Disney pens from her drawer and presented them to me. But the same night itself, she took the pens back *slaps forehead*!  Kids….they’re really innocent and cute aren’t they?

Video Of Baby C Calling Cheh Cheh

Whenever Baby C sees the picture of her 2 doting cheh chehs on my handphone, she will say “cheh cheh”. A few days ago, I managed to capture her on video calling “cheh cheh” like this:

“>

“Cheh Cheh” was one of the first few words that Baby C uttered when she was 9-10 months. She has yet to call me “mummy” but calls me “meh meh” all the time… and that’s enough to melt my heart!

Vote For The Earth – Use Eco-Friendly, Non-Electrical EXIT Signs

Today, 28th March 2009 marks Earth Hour 2009. This year’s Earth Hour has been transformed into the world’s first global election between Earth and global warming!

Earth Hour is an international event organized by the WWF (World Wildlife Fund / World Wide Fund For Nature) and held on the last Saturday of March every year. During this event, households and businesses are urged to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards energy conservation and the need to take action on climate change and global warming.

For the first time in history, people round the world have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote. Cool eh? If you switch off your lights, you vote for the Earth and if you decide to leave them on, then you are voting for global warming.

Many companies, hospitals and agencies round the world have thrown their weight behind the Earth Hour campaign by pledging to turn off the lights for one hour on 28th March. One company has even created one-of-a-kind eco-friendly, non-electrical EXIT SIGNS using the innovative photoluminescent technology. These exit signs manufactured by exitsigns.com glow in the dark, are code compliant, modern in design, are of high quality and best of all, help you save loads of money on electricity bill. The significance of changing your existing exit sign over to the one manufactured by exitsigns.com saves up to $40 per year of electricity costs and prevents up to 6 light bulbs per sign from being discarded and replaced.

So tell me, are you going to vote for the Earth or for global warming?

Tender Moments

Alycia often treats her baby sister like a living baby doll. She kisses her, tries to carry her, hugs her and squeezes her…. just like a baby doll… and Baby C just loved them!

Here are some tender moments of Alycia with her baby sister :

My 2 sweetiepies…

Alycia trying to carry baby…

… and hugged her like a huge teddy bear, almost smothering poor baby O_o!

My sweetiepie with her hair tied up… but that did not last for more than 5 minutes for she just hates having anything on her head or hair except her sunnies!

My Princess Wannabe In Her Princess Dress

Alycia and Sherilyn are very lucky girls indeed. Aged 5 and 4 respectively, they had already visited Disneyland and had traveled to Hong Kong twice. What about daddy and mummy? Aged almost 40 years old, we have never been to Disneyland. I’ve always wanted to visit Disneyland ever since I started watching Disney cartoons and movies many moons ago but just never got the opportunity and right time to visit Disneyland. When Alycia came back from Hong Kong, she told me that her koo mar will bring her to Disneyland again in December this year to celebrate her birthday. I don’t know if she’s making up a story or it’s indeed true that my sil had told her this. If it’s true, Alycia and Sherilyn are indeed very very lucky kids. This time, I hope daddy and I can join them in their trip to Hong Kong, together with Baby C.

See my princess wannabe here? That’s the princess dress that my sil bought for her in Disneyland. It’s such a pretty dress and there are even built-in cancan wires underneath the dress so that when it’s worn, the wearer would look every bit like a princess! What’s missing is perhaps a Twinkle necklace to complete it. Sherilyn has been telling me that she wants to wear her Princess Aurora dress to attend my birthday dinner this weekend. But I still think that she would look a tad like a fish out of water in that elaborate dress. But oh well, I’ll just let her have fun in that princess dress because if she doesn’t wear it now, I’m afraid she will outgrow the dress very soon.

Poor, Poor Baby C

We were at our pediatric nephrologist’s clinic again today. I was told by our doctor to bring Baby C to her clinic for an antibiotics jab 2 days ago but I decided to wait until today as baby’s pee did not smell foul anymore. Furthermore, I wanted to wait for the urine culture report and sensitivity report to be ready (out yesterday) so that we are certain that she’s getting the right antibiotics. The sensitivity report showed that the bacteria is only resistant to one type of antibiotics. This antibiotics has to be given via IV or IM thrice a day, which is not feasible. After a discussion with our doctor, we decided to have baby’s pee collected again via catheterization this time. Urine collected via catheterization is a clean catch and does not risk being contaminated, thus we will have a more accurate results. Our doctor also wanted a few more types of antibiotics tested for their sensitivity so that there will be more options to treat Baby C.

As usual, Baby C screamed her lungs out during the procedure. Darn those nurses who were not well prepared for the procedure, more than half of baby’s pee was not collected in the specimen bottle as the bottle wasn’t even opened yet when the catheter was already inserted inside.  Consequently, the pee was splattered everywhere on the bed. Luckily the very little pee collected in the specimen bottle was still enough for the tests to be carried out. My poor baby has to endure yet another round of torturous procedure. When she came home, she wanted to be carried all the time. I am now typing this post with one finger as my other hand is carrying Baby C. I guess the rest of my day would be spent carrying my poor sweetiepie. I can forget about painting my nails with nail varnish from nailsinc. I am drop dead exhausted now and all I need is a forty winks. And if you are wondering what nailsinc is, it is the world’s largest nail bar chain offering quick, affordable, high-quality and branded nail care products and services.

My Super Vain, Stylo-Mylo Princess Wannabe

Sherilyn my super vainpot is really obsessed and fastidious with her hair. Every morning, she would spend at least 5 minutes choosing her hair accessories and then demands that her hair be tied in 2 pig tails. Though her hair is not very long, she nonetheless accessorize it elaborately. I wish Alycia would just be this vain and have some interest in girlish stuff.

That’s my princess wannabe wearing her new Minnie Mouse head band, her favorite oversized Minnie Mouse hair clip and her favorite ‘Paris Hilton sunglasses’ which is inseparable from her. Koo mah bought her the Disney head band during her recent trip to Hong Kong. Sherilyn is so inseparable from her Minnie Mouse hair clip and ‘Paris Hilton sunglasses’ that she brought them with her to Hong Kong recently. The Minnie Mouse head band has a pink veil attached to it which makes her look like a bride when she wears it! I’ll bet if she wore a pair of  Balenciaga sunglasses, she would look exactly like a fashionista or a diva! I must say this girl has style and refined taste for fashion! What do you get when you combine style, vanity and a sociable personality? Sounds like it’s a future Miss Malaysia or future Miss Congeniality in the making eh?  LOL….wishful thinking for this mummy!

Baby C Said “Bun”

Yesterday I gave my sweetiepie a bun to eat. As I was feeding her the bun, I kept saying “bun” to her. My sweetiepie repeated after me and kept saying “pah, pah, pah”. After saying “pah” several times, she gave me a real pleasant surprise when she said “bun”…. with the ‘n’ sound pronounced very clearly! I know it wasn’t a fluke as she said “bun” about 3-4 times. The ‘n’ sound is one of the hardest to pronounce for babies but my sweetiepie said it. Good job baby!

Chunks Of Cheese

I am a butter and cheese lover. When I saw chunks and chunks of cheese on display at the buffet counter of Sudu Coffee House at Hilton Sentral when I went there for a buffet lunch on Sunday, I really couldn’t resist helping myself to all the different types of cheese except blue cheese (I hate the smell and still can’t acquire a taste for it)… though I was stuffed, really stuffed with so much good food.

I’ll bet anyone who is a cheese lover can’t stop laying their hands on those enormous chunks of cheese. It feels good slicing them and feels even better sinking your teeth into the cheese.

The cheese went so well with plain Meiji crackers and nuts.  Though high in protein and low in carbs, this plate of cheese, nuts and crackers are high in calories and sodium (cheese are loaded with sodium)!

Another Bizarre Creation

Sherilyn concocted yet another bizarre creation with her drinks the other day. I boiled some loh hon koa herbal drink again as everyone in the house have been having productive cough. Sherilyn who was feeling a tad under the weather (but still remained hyper active and mischevious) told me that her ‘tongue feels plain’ and didn’t want to drink her herbal drink. She told me she wanted to add something else into her herbal drink and I suggested adding in some Ribena, honey or prune juice. But this brat who always wants to exercise her independance and freedom of choice had another bright idea. She took out the bottle of organic soy bean milk meant for baby from the fridge and poured it into her cup of black herbal drink and right before her eyes, she saw her black drink turned to brown…. just like milk coffee like this:

Tell me, would you want to taste it too? I almost wanted to puke looking at her bizarre concoction, eewwww!  But this brat gulped it down!

My Princess Wannabe Brought Home A Princess Costume and Princess Clogs

Alycia and Sherilyn were finally back from their holidays in Hong Kong this afternoon. My princess wannabe regaled us non-stop with her tales in Disneyland. Remember the pictures of Alycia and Sherilyn taken in Hong Kong Disneyland that I posted earlier? In one picture Sherilyn wore a princess dress and princess clogs and I thought that my sil rented the costume from a costume stall just for the photography session. Know what? I was shocked when my princess wannabe fished the princess costume out from her luggage and proudly showed me the dress today. Sherilyn had asked my generous sil to buy the princess costume for her when they were in Disneyland. My sil obliged and spent a fortune on that costume. The Princess costume also comes with a pair of matching yellow color princess clogs.

After showing me her new pair of Princess clogs, Sherilyn walked to the storeroom where we keep our shoes and hunted for a nice spot to keep her Princess clogs! She has never ever been this responsible and has never once kept her shoes after wearing them. This clearly shows how much she loves her new Princess clogs. She’s super duper vain isn’t she? I admit I’m vain too but I can’t remember being this vain when I was 4 years old. I’ll bet Sherilyn will pester daddy or her koo ma to buy her a Stella McCartney handbag or some branded shoes and clothes 12 years down the road when she’s sweet sixteen and starts to get obsessed with branded stuff.

My princess wannabe showing off her new Princess clogs that her koo ma bought for her from Hong Kong Disneyland.

And this pair of pink Princess clogs were her Christmas gift from daddy last year. Oh dear, I wonder where she learnt this sexy pose from!

My princess wannabe proudly showing off her 2 pairs of Princess clogs with fur!  She even has the skill to hold and display her clogs so perfectly… vain, just like a model!  Check out her Paris Hilton sunnies on her head!  She’s absolutely besotted with this pair of sunnies and even brought it to Hong Kong.

Bamboo Charcoal Bread And Yam Kaya From Sbread

When I was having lunch at Gardens, Mid Valley the other day, I stumbled across a little store selling bread. Sbread only sells 3 types of bread, i.e. Bamboo Charcoal bread, black sesame seeds bread and multi-grain bread. They also sell homemade yam kaya and pandan kaya, cooked at the store itself.

From left : black sesame seeds bread, multi-grain bread and bamboo charcoal bread.

Bread and kaya for sampling.

The yam kaya and pandan kaya being cooked at the store.  The kaya is really tasty, rich, full of santan (coconut milk) taste and creamy.  I bought a jar of yam kaya.  The yam kaya has huge chunks of yam in it. Really yummy…. and fattening!

After sampling the bread and the delicious kaya, I bought half a loaf of black sesame seeds bread and half a loaf of bamboo charcoal bread.

Since I did not bring Baby C’s porridge along, I gave her some black sesame seeds bread to nibble on while the hubs and I had lunch at Canton-I.  I know, I know, by right I shouldn’t give her black sesame seeds as they are not digestible by a small baby’s guts…. shoot this mummy! The black sesame seeds came out in her poop the next day!

Verdict : will definitely buy the bread and both the kaya again.

Breakfast @ Hilton Sentral KL

Whenever I stay in a hotel, the one meal that I really look forward to is the buffet breakfast. On Friday, the hubs and I, together with Baby C checked into Hilton Sentral Hotel and stayed there for a night. That was our third time staying there and I must say that Hilton Sentral is one of the best hotels in KL. Love the design of the rooms and bathrooms, the cleanliness (which is most important to me), the facilities and amenities and the good food.

This is what I had for breakfast yesterday:

Hazelnut yoghurt with raspberries – very smooth, milkie and yummy! I likey!  I ate 2 cups – 1 with raspberries and another with apricot. Yums!

Ham, fried wantan, meat balls, spinach ham, turkey sausages, baked beans.

Different types of gourmet cheese with plain crackers, pecan nuts, walnuts, almonds and sliced almonds.

Omelette with tomatoes, ham and shitake mushrooms.

Also gulped down a glass of freshly blended apple + celery juice and a glass of plain green apple juice (all sugar-free).

Pretty much a high-protein, high fibre, low carb breakfast eh?  I was so stuffed that I only had a light lunch consisting of multi-grain crackers with peanut butter and some almonds back home.

Do hop over to my other blog to check out our dinner at Iketeru fine dine Japanese restaurant.

Thank goodness I didn’t gain any weight after an eating spree for the past 2 days.  I had wanted to go to the gym at the hotel yesterday morning but just as I was about to leave my hotel room, my sweetiepie woke up and gave me her most pathetic “mummy, don’t go away pleeeease” look.  How to go you tell me?    There was another eating session at Hilton Sentral again today.   Really fei sei lor.  Must work out harder tomorrow.

HEALTH FREAK MOMMY
