A Kitchen Full Of Suds

On the morning of the first day of this year, I had a rude surprise when my maid told me that ‘sabun keluar dari lubang’ (suds appearing from the hole). I ran to the kitchen and saw the floor of the kitchen where our washing machine is placed covered by suds.   The suds had made its way into our home from the hole of the drain cover. Someone from the upper unit of our condo must have been washing laundry in their washing machine and had used too much detergent, so much that the suds could not flow down the concealed piped drain and have seeped into our home.  We had to used several thick towels to cover the hole and my maid had a hard time cleaning up the washing machine and floor afterward.  In fact, that wasn’t the first time but the previous time, it wasn’t that serious.  The next time this happens,  maybe I should use play dough to seal up the hole.  When we stayed at a flood prone area several years ago, we used to stick play dough on door holes, bathroom drain covers and on every part of the house where there are holes for water to seep in.

Baby C Loves To Eat What We Eat

I guess most babies are like that too. Alycia and Sherilyn were like like that too when they were Baby C’s age.  Whenever Baby C sees us eating anything interesting, she will stare at us and move her mouth too, sometimes salivating and swallowing her saliva.

On X’mas Eve, daddy was eating potato chips on the floor. Baby C who was crawling on the floor saw the chips and gravitated towards daddy. She put her fingers into daddy’s mouth and wanted to pry open his mouth…..

… then attempted to grab the bag of chips….

….and finally put her hand into the bag and managed to fish out some chips …… but that didn’t go into her mouth of course.

It’s the same when she sees her 2 cheh chehs drinking milk from the bottle.  She would grab the bottle too…. and when I put the teat into her mouth, she would drink the milk too.  However, each time I try to feed her formula milk that’s meant for her, she would spit it out, struggle and cry.  I’ve wasted a lot of money on a few brands of expensive infant formula milk powder (Enfalac A+ and Isomil) and there’s  none that she likes…. except mummy’s milkie.  I guess it’s just not time to wean her off my teat teats just yet.

Sherilyn My Clumsy Pot

Not a day goes by without my #2 spilling water or food. Whether we’re at home or out dining, Sherilyn will surely create a boo boo, whether intentionally or unintentionally. Most of the time, it’s unintentional but the boo boo is normally caused by her mischief or clumsiness.

On the day that we were out with Paik Ling, my friend Yi Yi and their family at Jungle Gym, Sherilyn caused a boo boo at the restaurant. She spilled daddy’s entire glass of ice lemonade and daddy had to eat his nasi lemak with ice and lemonade on it!  Sher felt really embarrassed with her faux pas and for the next half an hour, didn’t speak a word or smile and looked so pathetic.  That was so unlike my social butterfly who is normally very chatty.

The other day, Sherilyn climbed up and down the chair during breakfast and what else? She spilled a cup of leong sui all over the floor.  I got so mad with her that I chided her and asked her to wipe the mess away herself, which she did, with some toilet papers.

Whenever Sher drinks anything sweet like Ribena or juices or anything oily like soup, I now have to stand next to her and make sure she gulps her drinks without spilling them. You know how troublesome it is to clean up sticky juices, you need to wipe the table or the floor at least 3 times to remove the stickness completely.  I wonder why she never learns her lessons and keeps repeating her mistakes, day after day.   Sometimes I am really tempted to make her eat her meals in the bathroom, so that I don’t have to clean up her mess if she spills her drinks or drops her food all over the floor!

Happy 2009 Everyone!

Can you believe it, it’s already 2009!  My celebration to usher in 2008 1 year ago seems like it was only yesterday and now, I’ve ushered in another brand new year.

So how did you celebrate New Year’s Eve yesterday? We had a sumptuous dinner consisting of a roast turkey, roast lamb, roast beef, chicken chop, spaghetti, salads, cakes, Haegan Dazs ice cream and champagne at my home. We invited some friends over for dinner.

I was a tad disappointed that there was no spectacular fireworks or laser lights display at the KL Towers and KLCC… coz we could have a perfect view of it from our condo.  We waited all night for that but to our disappointment, there was only some small-time fireworks at the KLCC area and the fireworks weren’t high enough to be seen in the sky.  However, we could see some great fireworks display near the Hilton Sentral and Le Meridien Hotel area from the 5th floor of our condo unit. That lasted for about 15-20 minutes.

On the right – roast turkey, roast beef and garlic buns…

Salads…

Chicken chop, mushroom sauce, spaghetti bolognaise, mixed veggie, roast beef and lamb…

Just before midnight, there was a cake cutting ceremony for the kids and we sang “Happy New Year To Us” (to the tune of Happy Birthday). That was a green tea red bean cake from RT Pastry House, my all-time favorite bakery.

The kids played and played and played like there was no tomorrow.  Though Alycia and Sherilyn didn’t take their nap in the afternoon, their batteries were at the peak when they were having fun.  All of us only went to bed at around 1:30am.

This morning, I got up at 7am and my maid was still snoring away and I had to wake her up again.  Baby C woke up with me and I couldn’t go out to jog or to the gym again.  So I placed her in the playpen and I jogged inside my house.  Luckily my 1,500+ square feet unit is spacious enough for me to jog freely inside and I managed to jog for 20 minutes (including 5 minutes of jogging and carrying Baby C when she fussed non stop) and had a good sweat out.

There’s lots of leftover food in our fridge and today we will be eating spaghetti for lunch and chicken chop for dinner.

I wish everyone a very happy and prosperous new year and may all of us be blessed with good health.
