Sherilyn Finally Got To Wear Her Ballet Costume

Yesterday was Sherilyn’s second ballet lesson, well it was supposed to be her third but she missed a lesson last week when she was down with high fever.

I normally have a hard time getting Sherilyn to wake up from her afternoon nap but yesterday was an exception. At the mention of “Sherilyn, wake up and get ready for your ballet class”, she jumped out from bed, drank a cup of water without any fuss and without spilling (yay!), went to pee and asked me to put on her costume for her and to tie up her hair.

This week, Alycia has to attend ballet lessons three times in a week, all in a row, from Wednesday through Friday. She normally has lessons only once a week but the lessons have been increased to twice a week to prepare her for an exam in May. The class today (Thursday) is a replacement class. Since Sherilyn missed a class last week, she’s also joining her sister in the class. BTW, Sherilyn and Alycia are in the same class. After the exam in May, their class will be separated.

When I asked Alycia and Sherilyn to pose for a pic, Alycia who was grouchy (she just woke up from her nap) refused to smile but Sherilyn tried to make her laugh….

…and Sherilyn succeeded in making her sister laugh and act silly too….

2 not-so-gracious little girls… on their way to become gracious ballerinas….

Yet Another Bright Idea From My Brat

Sherilyn never fails to make my blood boil and send steam shooting out from my head… yet she always makes me laugh at her antics. Two days ago, when she was still running a high fever, she would have shivering episodes whenever the fever shot up to above 39 degrees Celsius. We were all seated at the dining table and having our dinner when she told me that her legs felt cold. I touched her body and it was burning with heat. Her fever had come back and though her body was hot, I could see goose bumps all over her hands and legs. I was feeding Baby C porridge and couldn’t help her get a jacket or a nappy.    She then ran to the laundry basket, ransacked the basket of clean clothes with her sticky hands and fished out a pillow case.  I was starting to feel steam shooting out from my head coz her hands were sticky and black with black sesame bread spread …. but when I saw what she did with the pillow case, I just couldn’t help but laugh out loud, though I tried hard to suppress my laughter….

… coz Sherilyn looked really ridiculous yet funny and in a way, it was a real bright idea coming out from this cili padi (that’s her nickname)… coz the pillow case could cover her legs and feet as well, just like a blanky.

Baby C With Superstar!

The other day, a friend of ours, who happens to be a local filmstar and model dropped by our house. Alan Yun, star of local movie Sepet and a few other local Chinese series has been our close friend for more than a decade.

See how lucky Baby C is, posing with this leng jai kor kor! But being afraid of strangers, she was on the verge of crying here.

Before I snapped this pic, I had actually gotten Alan’s approval to have this pic posted in my blog and this Mr Nice Guy acceded to my request. Thanks Ah Lun!

Yeast Infection During Pregnancy

All three of my pregnancies were plagued with pregnancy-related health problems. When I found out that the IUI (Intra-Uterine Insemination) was successful after just one cycle, I was in seventh heaven. I just could not believe that I was pregnant, not until I could see the fetus’ heartbeat on the ultrasound scan. However, when the morning sickness or rather round-the-clock sickness set in, followed by a host of other pregnancy related problems, I was miserable. I was so miserable and in discomfort that I hardly smiled throughout my pregnancy. Apart from the terrible morning sickness, I also suffered from most of the common pregnancy related problems ranging from acne on my face, bleeding gums which resulted in a pregnancy tumor in my gum, dizziness, heartburn, lack of appetite, insomnia, varicose veins, a sensitive uterus, a threatened preterm labor, backache and recurring yeast infections.

I was attacked by yeast infection almost every other month during my first pregnancy. Despite being prescribed with oral antibiotics, topical medication and vaginal suppositories, avoided sugary and cheesy food, the yeast just loved my down under so much that it kept coming back all through my pregnancy! Yeast infections and pregnancy are akin to sugar and ants.  If you are pregnant, chances of you having yeast infections are high due to the changes in hormones in your body. The yeast infections only stopped bothering me after Alycia was born.

Yeast infection during pregnancy is a very common problem and it is more frequent during the last two trimesters of pregnancy. Sufferers of yeast infection will have increase in the amount of thin, white, odd smelling discharge, along with having some itch. If you are one of the unfortunate ones suffering from recurring yeast infections, you may want to check out Monistat Vaginal Therapy. Monistat relieves symptoms rapidly and targets infection site to start healing yeast infection instantly. Just click on the links provided above to find out more about this product.

Updates On My Gals

My girls have been driving me up the wall these few days.  Sherilyn who has been having high fever for the past 5 days has been really crabby.  She doesn’t want to eat anything or drink anything and I have to force her to drink liquid.  I’ve spent almost my entire day for the past 5 days feeding meds and health supplements to 2 sick kittens.  At night, hubby does the night duty and sleeps in with Sherilyn.  He will check her temperature, sponge her and feed her meds round the clock.  At times when her fever shoots up to 40 degrees Celsius, he will wake me up and get my help to insert the suppository.  Sherilyn who has always been very clingy to daddy cried for almost an hour this morning when he left the house.  The sound of her wailing can really drive me nuts.

Baby C has been bitten by the cold bug as well since last night.  I’d expected her to be bitten too coz both mummy and cheh cheh were bitten hard.  Fortunately Baby C’s cold is only very mild.  I hope it does not accelerate into a full blown flu.  I’m also praying hard that Alycia doesn’t get bitten as well.  Can you imagine how hard my days would be if all my 3 gals are down with full blown flu and all 3 of them get crabby and cry all day long?

Hubby and I have been going in and out of the hospital with Baby C for the past 1 week…. two urine tests done in a week and another one to be done this Saturday, along with an ultrasound scan.  Even our nephrologist lets out a sigh… coz we are now doubting the accuracy of the first urine culture report done at a hospital near where we stay. The WBC and the colony count of the bacteria do not seem to jive. The WBCs and bacteria colony count in her pee seem to be moving like a yoyo… up and down and the bacteria keeps changing.  You can check out my health blog to read the details.

Killing 2 Birds With One Stone

I am the type of person who likes to maximise my time as I find 24 hours in a day just too short. I always wish that there were 30 hours in a day, so that I have the extra 6 hours in a day to get my beauty sleep and to indulge in my hobbies!

My hubby and mil always tell me not to read my newspapers when I have my meals but I find that if I don’t do anything when I eat, I am wasting my precious time. I’d spent almost a decade of my life doing that when I was in the corporate world. I had always read or worked on my PC when I had my lunch coz I just didn’t have the time to read if I didn’t do it during my meal times.

I find that I hardly do anything with Baby C these days, except feed her her bunch of health supplements, antibiotics, nurse her and feed her breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday… day in day out. My entire day is spent feeding her and I hardly have much time left for anything else. So to make full use of my time, I now flash cards to her during her meals. I’d asked hubby to bring the detachable table for baby’s Safe n Sound high chair back from his office last week and now, baby can play with her toys whilst she eats. I can also read to her as I feed her. The detachable table had been kept in his office for the last 2 years, ever since Sherilyn outgrew the high chair.

Baby C loves the flash cards and would look at the cards attentively with a smile on her face.  Sometimes I would test her (which is actually not advisable) and sometimes she got them right.  Well, I think it’s just coincidental that she picked the right card.

Baby C could hardly sit still on her high chair.  She always stands up and wriggles her way out from the safety belt.  Flashing cards to her and giving her toys to play with manage to keep her still during her meals.

Sherilyn Has Never Been This Sick

…..and this time, it is quite bad. Today is the 3rd day of her high fever and the temperature shot up to 40 degrees Celsius last night and today, despite being on Augmentin, a nose allergy syrup, PCM syrup and a syrup for her swollen throat. Daddy has been really worried and has been calling back to check on her a few times in a day. He has also been sleeping in with Sherilyn for the past 3 nights. Last night, he woke me up to ask me to insert a suppository into her rectum when her temperature shot up to 40 degrees Celsius. He also sponged her the whole night and left a pail with water in the room. Each time the temp shot up, Sherilyn would shiver in cold but thank God she didn’t throw up, unlike Alycia who would puke each time she has high fever.

This pic was taken yesterday during dinner. Sherilyn who was eating dozed off at the dining table. Her temp was really high but she wanted to eat the fried noodles that I cooked, so I gave her some.  All she managed to eat was a few spoonfuls and then she kept telling me that she felt cold…. and she only wanted my shawl, so I wrapped it round her shoulders.  Her body was burning with heat, though she felt as if she was placed in a freezer and her teeth were clattering away.  I kept sponging her body and put a wet hanky on her head.  The bowl of noodles went to the bin after a few spoonfuls and she also took a few small bites of a butter bun and a few mouthfuls of loh hon koa herbal drink that I boiled.

Alycia’s Affinity With Boys’ Toys

So this is what daddy bought Alycia yesterday:

So un-girlish hor? Alycia should be cradling a cute baby doll but she’s cradling her hideous looking Ultraman!  Just dunno why, this pretty daughter of mine just doesn’t like dolls, princess and girlish stuff…. unlike Sherilyn.  She just has a penchant for boys’ stuff and most of her toys are boys’ toys ranging from guns to cars, construction tools and now Ultraman!

The cheapskate made in China big ultraman comes with 6 mini ultramen. The big ultraman that is battery operated  has the jingle of the Ultraman show and gosh I tell you, the jingle is so terribly deafening. From dawn till dusk, I could hear the deafening techno Ultraman jingle and Alycia kept telling me how much she loves the start of the jingle… so much so that she kept pressing the start button and the jingle kept repeating! The deafening jingle had woken up Baby C from her nap and sleep a few times and I tell you, I was enraged!

Sherilyn Is Still Running A High Fever

Sherilyn’s fever is still very high, hovering at 38-40 degrees Celsius. Today marks the 3rd day of her fever and it doesn’t seem to be going down, despite being on antibiotics. For the first time, daddy was really concerned and worried. He has been sleeping in with her (just him and her) in the girls’ room for the past 2 nights while Alycia slept with my maid in another room. When Sherilyn’s temperature shot up to 40 degrees Celsius last night, daddy was really worried. He woke me up to ask me to insert a Volren suppository into her rectum. He then brought in a pail with some cold water and sponged her the whole night.

I think Sherilyn’s bad throat infection is caused by heatiness. Last weekend after lunch with some friends, she followed one of our friends to Starbucks for coffee while hubby and I went shopping for groceries. Our friend bought her a packet of potato chips and she happily finished the entire packet of chips without drinking much water. This friend of ours is a very successful entrepreneur. He is of the same age as hubby and he is already a multi-millionaire. He runs a very successful advertising firm and owns a few expensive cars. He recently expanded his firm by opening a branch in a nearby country and hired a company as good as the manhattan it consulting experts to provide his company IT services. Though he is a very successful entrepreneur, this friend of ours is a very down-to-earth and humble man. His wife is really lucky to have found such a perfect guy as her soul mate.

Sher’s Sick But She Longs To Go To School

After Sherilyn returned from her first ballet lesson last night, she told me that she felt cold when she was having dinner.  Daddy was feeding her dinner and we thought that it was just another excuse from her to avoid eating her dinner.  Later when she was about to have her shower, her body felt hot.  I took her temperature and it read 37.7 degrees Celsius.  She was feeling lethargic and listless.  I gave her some PCM syrup and she went to bed early.  This morning, her temp was 38.8 degrees Celsius.  I quickly asked daddy to bring her to see the paed.  Before Baby C came along, I would wait for 2 days to allow Alycia or Sher’s body to heal on their own before bringing them to the doctor but now, I am worried that Baby C would catch the virus too.  So at the onset of a fever from Alycia or Sher, I would quickly bring them to the doctor.

When I told Sherilyn that she couldn’t go to school this morning, she bawled and kept saying “I want to go to school, I want to wear my uniform!”.  To stop her from bawling and to prevent her from puking (she has a tendency of puking whenever she cries), I asked my maid to let her wear the uniform.  Daddy and I then told Sher a white lie and said that daddy will bring her to see the doctor first and later bring her to school. She stopped crying and was in a bubbly mood again when she was wearing her uniform. She even insisted that she brought her school bag along.

At the clinic, Sher puked when the nurse gave her some PCM syrup.  As her temp was very high, she was given a suppository.  Daddy had vomit all over his clothes.  When daddy brought Sher home, Sher was in a crabby mood and refused to talk to daddy and me coz she couldn’t go to school.  She just sat on the toilet seat for almost half an hour, bowed down her head and put her face on her hands.  She kept giving me an angry stare and refused to talk to anyone.  After she had calmed down, my maid washed her up (as she had vomit on her clothes) and I fed her her meds.

I will keep Sher away from school for another day tomorrow.  Daddy will have to find another way of stopping her from bawling.  Today daddy bought Sher a cheapskate made in China toy handphone with ringtones to ‘thum’ (make her happy) her as she was angry with him for not bringing her to school.  Daddy also bought Alycia a cheapskate made in China toy.  Guess what toy daddy bought Alycia?  You’ll be surprised to know.  I shall blog about it later.

So would you be happy or sad to have a daughter who just loves going to school, so much so that she will bawl big time when she can’t go to school when she’s ill?

Sherilyn Learns Ballet Today

Sherilyn my little vain pot and princess wannabe finally got her wish come true today.   She followed her cheh cheh to the ballet school today and joined her in her class.  When Sherilyn attended the trial ballet class last year (she was 3 yo then), she was awestruck and just watched the students in their cute tutu and ballet costume dance with her mouth wide open.  She was so awestruck that she couldn’t follow what the teacher told her to do.  Consequently, the ballet teacher ordered her out of the room and she was really dejected.  Ballet schools are pretty strict on discipline.  If I sent my gals to Jean Gan Ballet Academy, I don’t think they will even be accepted as my friends who send their kids there told me that the teachers are really really strict.  Now, a year later and much matured after having attended pre-school for half a year, Sher’s learning curve has become sharper and she is more ready to take instructions.  At the ballet class today, she was very enthusiastic and followed the teacher attentively.

When the girls got home, Sherilyn was very eager to show me what she learnt in the ballet school.  Alycia who has never wanted to practise her steps or show me what she learnt in ballet school felt left out that daddy and my attention was all on Sherilyn and felt the competition.  For once, she was also eager to show me the steps and ‘corrected’ Sherilyn’s steps.  I think it’s really a good idea to send Sherilyn for ballet lessons together with Alycia.  This way, a healthy competition is created and Alycia will have more enthusiasm in learning.  My 2 daughters are just so different in characters.  Alycia is really shy, timid and reserved while Sherilyn is really outgoing, bold and wants to learn everything.

My Little Social Butterfly Loves Going To Pre-School

Sherilyn my little social butterfly has been raring to go back to pre-school.  Since school started on Monday, she has no probs waking up in the morning. After I am back from my jogging session or gym each morning, she’s almost ready for school – milk drank, teeth brushed, all washed up and ready to wear her uniform, without much fuss. Alycia is the exact opposite. Each morning, she will tell me that she’s still sleepy or tired and refuse to get up from bed.

On Sunday night when I was cleaning and packing the gals’ school bags, Sherilyn put 2 stickers into her bag and told me that she’d like to give them to her friends LOL! I think she’s going to be Miss Congeniality in future.

Miss Congeniality is also a super vain pot and she has been insisting that her hair be tied up with cute Minnie Mouse hair bands and hair clips each morning before she goes to school.

Sherilyn My Poor Feeder Who Takes Hours To Finish Her Food

Sherilyn would normally take between 1-3 hours to finish her meals.  During breakfast, she would sit at the dining table and take her own sweet time to  eat her food, play with her food, play with her toys, climb up and down the chairs and hop from one chair to another, drop her food, spill her drinks, etc. and dilly dally for hours until it’s time for lunch.  I don’t even have to clean her up for she will ‘transit’ from breakfast to lunch.  The same thing happens during dinner.  Sometimes she would eat from 7pm till 10pm until the dining table is cleared and everyone else has taken their shower and she would still be there chewing her food and ‘fatt ngau tau’ (daydreaming).  I get really stressed up during meal times because of her.  No amount of coaxing would make her eat her food sometimes.

The other day, she was still storing her food in her mouth after more than an hour.  It was already almost 9pm and she was pacing the house up and down.  She went from room to room and then stood at the kitchen balcony to look at people swimming at the pool.  To encourage her to eat her food, I brought a stool to the kitchen and asked her to sit there and eat.  When I said that, her face lit up and she quickly brought her plate of cold food and sat there to eat and watched people swimming!

See how happy my brat is… but Sherilyn being Sherilyn, she dropped her food all over the kitchen floor but at least she finally finished her food at almost 9:30pm.  Sigh….. Sherilyn oh Sherilyn…. mummy just wishes you’ll eat as enthusiastically as your cheh cheh.

Direct Offer From An Advertiser

Someone from a local advertising network called me this morning. I was very busy trying to collect Baby C’s pee (to be sent for a urine culture) and didn’t have the time to entertain her and told her to call me back at 3pm today. At 3pm sharp today, this lady called me back. I was still busy (well, I’ve never been free these days) and was quite pissed off. But when she offered me to write an advertorial on one of our local bank’s new product, which the advertiser is going to pay me RM200+, I could feel my mood instantly changed from one of being irritated to being excited! Look at me, so money-minded! Anyway, she told me that I have to attend the bank’s launch on 8 January 09. I told her that I am unable to attend and asked if I could just write the product review after reading the product description, she said it’s fine. I further asked her to send me an email to confirm this offer, which she said will be sending to me soon. I still haven’t received the email yet and I hope I’ll receive it soon.

Super Cool Magnetic Toys

This morning has been really hectic for me. I didn’t have the time to eat a proper breakfast as I was pacing up and down. I spent almost an hour collecting Baby C’s pee, then had to supervise the contractors who were at my condo to fix the toilet floor and then later had to go down to the lobby of our condo to wait for Alycia and Sherilyn. Hubby was busy today, so we had to trouble a relative to pick the girls up from school. I really have to get a good gift for this relative’s daughter who will turn 6 years old next month. We have been troubling her for transport each time hubby is unable to pick up the girls from school or send Alycia to the ballet school.

I would like to get my relative’s daughter a birthday gift that’s both educational and can stimulate her imagination, such as the Icoaster from MagNext. The MagNext range of toys can be purchased at MegaBrands.com. Icoaster is a multiple-award winning toy made of magnet in usa. I am pretty sure this little girl who is quite a talented child will love this magnetic toy.    If you have a child who is 6 years old or older, you really have to check out the Icoaster range of toys at MegaBrands.com.

Baby C Said “Hey Daddy”!

I just have to put this on record.  I know it’s still way too soon for Baby C to be talking but last night, hubby and I heard Baby C saying “Hey Daddy”!

It’s a norm for Baby C to wake up at around 2-3am everyday. She will then crawl everywhere on our king size bed, climb all over us, sometimes pulls our hair or gives us a good massage on the shoulders. It was no exception last night. Baby C woke up at 3am and was in a bubbly mood and just didn’t want to go back to sleep. Suddenly, hubby and I heard her ‘saying’
“hey daddy!”. I know it could be just coincidental as Baby C loves babbling and what she babbled last night sounded so clear and precise! Daddy was beaming with pride and joy when he heard that. We just can’t wait for Baby C to be yakking away just like her 2 cheh chehs.  Oh well, maybe when Baby C can talk and answer me back when I scold her in future, I will then wish she would just shut up,  haha!

HEALTH FREAK MOMMY
