Low Fat Or Full Cream?

Each time I drink low fat milk or eat low fat yoghurt, my mil and well-meaning relatives would be commenting that I should not be consuming low fat dairy products since I am breastfeeding exclusively.  They tell me that I should be eating full cream dairy products so that my milk would be thicker, thus fills Baby C up longer.  Is this a fact?  I had read from breastfeeding sites that a nursing mum does not necessarily need to consume full cream dairy products. In fact water is sufficient, together with a healthy and sensible diet.  So the hubs does not buy me low fat fresh milk anymore.  He’s only buying full cream milk for me.  That’s one of the reasons why my weight just won’t budge despite me exercising everyday!

This milk even comes with DHA, Omega and all that jazz that’s supposedly nourishing to the heart and brain.

I Almost Ate Some Wriggly Worms

A few mornings ago, I cut a passion fruit into half and scooped out the seeds and when I was about to put the spoonful of passion fruit seeds into my mouth, I saw something wriggling amongst the seeds of the passion fruit which was still attached to the skin.  On taking a closer look, I was absolutely petrified to see some worms wriggling away!  I used the spoon to separate the cluster of seeds and felt nauseated when I saw some more worms, which looked like maggots inching their way inside, back inside to hide!  OMG, I felt absolutely revolted.

This was the worm-infested passion fruit. Notice the white pulp which also resembles worms?

I had actually been very wary of eating passion fruits as many times, I’d seen very tiny holes, like worm holes on the outer skin of the fruit. That particular morning, I noticed something not quite right about the fruit when the yellow flesh looked somewhat dull, like fresh baby’s watery poop! Ooppsss…. sorry for being gross but that’s what I thought it looked like.

One of the wriggling worms on the right.

After that incident, I now scoop out all the flesh and seeds into a bowl. I then loosen the flesh and seeds and scrutinize them very carefully before putting them into my mouth.  I still have phobia of swallowing some worms but I still have to finish off the remaining passion fruits that my mil had bought.  I think this will be our last time buying passion fruits.

An Unforgettable Honeymoon In Phuket

My honeymoon in Phuket, Thailand was an eventful one. Not only did I suffer injuries to my foot during a snorkeling trip (which eventually required a minor surgery), it was also the first time I ever saw a ship on fire. We were on the ferry, on our way back to Phuket from Phi Phi Island after a snorkeling trip. Half way through the ferry ride, we noticed that the sky was blanketed by lots of dark smoke. The ferry directly behind our ferry was on fire and half the boat had capsized. There were many rescue boats to rescue the passengers from the ferry, many of whom were tourists. I heard some of the crew members in the fateful ferry were injured. Thank God we were not on that ill-fated ferry. I am sure the injured crew members must have sought the services of a maritime attorney to help them seek compensation for injuries suffered. I will never forget this trip of ours in Thailand.

New Pink Scooter

Aly and Sher finally got what they had longed for when daddy bought them a pink scooter last week. It was the 2nd day of Hari Raya and daddy had brought them to MegaKidz @ Mid Valley Megamall. I stayed home with Baby C…. as usual… sigh…. Daddy didn’t want to bring Baby C to crowded places as he was worried she would get sick easily.

I knew daddy would surely get them something from Toys R Us coz that’s the only time he could buy them toys… without me around to stop him! They left the house at 2pm and only got back at 6ish pm! No need afternoon nap, no need to drink milk, no need to drink water and no need to take bath too.  With daddy around, everything is ‘no need’!  Never mind lar, since it’s a holiday, I let them off the hook…

Once back, they ripped open the box and took the scooter out… which came with a matching pair of sexy pink sunglasses and cool pink helmet.

Girls in pink… how cool and cute hor?

Best of friends now… but “I don’t friend you” later when a tug-of-war ensued over the helmet and sunglasses.

Alycia, My Super Sensitive Child

I never imagined that Alycia would cry when Sherilyn said “I don’t friend you” over dinner yesterday.  Since attending pre-school, they are very fond of saying “I friend you” and “I don’t friend you“.   Alycia has even picked up the line “I will shoot you with my gun”… which I will also chide her off for saying it.

Last night during dinner, the 2 gals were quarelling.  When Sher said “I don’t friend you, I friend kakak and mummy”, Alycia was very upset.  She was so upset that she put her head on her hands, with her head bowed down and didn’t want to eat dinner, though mah mah had cooked many tasty dishes.  Her eyes were all red and she tried hard not to burst into tears.  I then told her “I friend you and I love you ok?” but she was still very, very upset.  I then asked Sher to say “I friend you” to Alycia which she did but Alycia was still very upset and continued to put her head on her hands and bowed her head lol!

When I asked Sher to say sorry to Alycia and to give Alycia  a hug, which Sher did, Alycia burst into tears!  I never imagined this to happen  and this shows that Alycia loves Sher a lot and values their friendship and sisterhood very much.  I then tried to placate her and gave her a cookie and reassured her that everyone loves her, including Sher.

This morning, Sher woke up very early and went to mah mah’s room (Alycia slept with her mah mah last night) and I could hear laughter again. They are now back to normal and very chummy with each other again!  Aren’t they just too funny?

Our Sunday

Our initial plan today was to pack home some hawkers’ food to eat after church.  But when I was lost for ideas on what to eat, hubby brought us to Jaya 1 in PJ, the nearest place to our church.  As usual, Alycia and Sher voted to eat pasta and spaghetti, one of their all-time favorites.  So we went to Santini and had Italian food.

Alycia and Sher were tickled pink to see the chefs making pizza and putting the pizzas into a huge stove with flame.

Halfway through lunch, Sher my trouble-maker spilt water AGAIN.  This time, she stood up on her chair and toppled her water tumbler with her hand… and the water went pouring all over my dress!  You tell me, how not to be mad with her?  This brat spills water 9 out of 10 times she drinks water, unless I stand next to her and watch her drink or hold the cup for her.

Do check out my other blog to see what we ordered from Santini.

After lunch, hubby sent me and Baby C home first as I had to feed baby her meds.  Hubby then brought the 2 older girls to RT, our favorite bakery to buy me my favorite multi-grain and seeds bread.  I’m going to eat bread for dinner tonight.  Next hubby brought the the gals to Guardian to get baby shampoo and hubby took the opportunity to buy his princesses something.  He grabbed the chance to quickly buy this gadget for the gals since I wasn’t around to stop him!   I shall blog about it in my next post.

Hubby also brough Sher to the clinic again (the 3rd time in 2.5 weeks).  This is the first time Sher is having such a bad cough and runny nose.  I had expected this to happen since she’s just started pre-school.

Another Big-Time Wee Wee Accident Again!

Sherilyn did it again 2 days ago.  This time, it wasn’t really all her ‘fault’.  After I had brushed her teeth, daddy took over and helped her put on the jammies. He had forgotten to put the diaper on and I was nursing Baby C and putting her to sleep.

The next morning, I fixed a bottle of milk and went to Sher’s room at 8:30am. I was surprised she was already awake. I gave her a ‘hello’ smile and said ‘good morning’. But Sher didn’t smile back at me but said “mummy, my clothes are wet wet“. I touched her pants and was surprised that it was very wet. I asked myself how could the diaper leak that much. When I took a closer look at her pants which looked flat and not bulging out with a soaked diaper, I realized that she didn’t wear a diaper to sleep the night before! I touched the blanket and it was soaking wet and gosh, I tell you, the bed was stinky! I quickly called my maid up to help me remove the bedsheet and to bring the heavy and bulky pee-soaked comforter down.  Luckily she slept with a plastic mat beneath her and the mattress wasn’t really wet.

Sher was walking ‘kankang’ (means with legs apart) down the stairs and into the bathroom…

My maid putting the pee-soaked sheets and comforter into a big bag, for hubby to bring to the laundry.

Sherilyn my trouble-maker made me boiling mad today.  Check out my other blog to find out what she did.

Alycia Knows How To Call Daddy On The Handphone Now

The girls seldom see daddy as he normally comes home late.  When they miss him, they will ask me to call him so that they can talk to him on the phone.  Most times, they will pester daddy to buy them things and to bring them out or to remind daddy to come home early for dinner.

Last week, Alycia kept bugging me to write down daddy’s handphone number on a piece of paper. Thereafter, she dialled the number and after a couple of tries, she succeeded in connecting the line…. and she was so proud! She has since kept that piece of paper and now, she would call daddy herself without going through me!

I Miss Wearing My Jewelry

Ever since Baby C’s arrival, I have stopped wearing my gold jewelry and they are all safe kept in the bank now. I don’t even wear my watch now though I’d love to wear it. I tried wearing a watch once but I had accidentally scratched Baby C’s leg with the watch. It’s safer to remove anything with a rough surface from my body as I am always carrying Baby C. I feel really ‘naked’ without any watch or jewelry on my body. I even want to remove the diamond pendant and necklace that I am wearing now because Baby C is always pulling the necklace. I can’t wait for Baby C to be able to walk so that I can wear my watch and jewelry again. I am so going to shop for some nice designer costume jewelry once Baby C can walk and does not need me to carry her so often.

The One With Neverending Antics And Ideas

and it always has to be my #2. Sherilyn oh Sherilyn!

Sherilyn hates to take her afternoon nap, unless she’s really very sick and feeling groggy, from the after effects of the meds. If she can have it her way, she would play from dawn till dusk and wouldn’t wannna sleep, eat or shower. The other day, she kept telling me that she’s not sleepy… but she was holding a pillow and walking round the house… with her eyes almost closing…. but she still didn’t wanna go near the mattress! And guess where she insisted she wants to “lie down only, not sleep”?

On 2 chairs…. and she even knew how to arrange the chairs in such a way that she could lay down comfortably, like this :

I’ll bet you can’t be angry with your rascal too if you saw her like this… so mischevious yet so cute!  I had to pull her up half way through her nap, just in case she fell off the chairs or peed on the pillow.  After she had peed, I dragged her back to the mattress to sleep with Alycia but in her groggy state of mind, Sher could still walk back to the 2 chairs to continue her nap!

Our Hari Raya Holiday

We treated our maid to a buffet lunch at the coffee house @ PJ Hilton today.  Many families were seen treating their maids to the buffet lunch too, in celebration of Hari Raya.

Kids being kids, Alycia and Sherilyn attacked the crackers, keropok, sausages and ice-cream.

I filled up a bottle of water for Baby C but she hated the bottle and gave me the ‘I almost want to puke’ look when I let her suckle on the teat. She also didn’t want to sit in her pram and kept whining and fussing till we brought her out and carried her round the coffee house.

After lunch, mah mah discreetly  brought Alycia to the car park with koo por (hubby’s aunt) as they wanted to go  shopping at Giant. Hubby and I tried to distract Sher and brought her to our car.  Alycia had wanted to follow mah mah and koo por shopping but mah mah can only handle 1 kid, so she told Alycia not to let Sher know.  It’s always not easy to handle Sher as she can be very wayward and would run wild in the shopping mall, touching everything that she sees. Even I can’t control her.  In the car, Sher kept asking “mummy, where is cheh cheh?  I love my cheh cheh. She’s my good friend.  Why is she in koo poh’s car?  Where are they going?”  Hubby and I told some white lies coz if Sher found out that they had gone shopping without her, all hell would break lose until they return home!

How did you spend your Hari Raya holiday?
