I am back home for a short while to take a shower and to pack my breast pump and other stuff.
Baby C’s fever went up to 39.3 degrees Celsius at 4am today. The nurses stripped her down and sponged her…. and she wailed her lungs out. They asked me not to put on the long sleeved rompers on her as the heat is all trapped inside. Instead, they put on the hospital scrubs on her which was really thin and airy. Her fever just wouldnt go down and the dr also couldn’t find a vein on her hand, thus could not insert the IV into her hand. Feeding her medicine is quite tough as she would spit the med out and puke. Hopefully the dr can locate the vein later. Antibiotics and medication fed thru the tube is much easier and recovery is faster too.
BTW Bb C has UTI and could be having Kidney Reflux too. She has a dilated right kidney (since in-utero). She has to undergo another test in a couple of months to rule out KR. She has to be sedated too to do the test 🙁 My heart is totally crushed seeing how BB C is suffering. Seeing her refuse my teat teats and refuse to nurse breaks my heart further.
Her hand was poked twice yesterday (but Dr couldn’t find the vein) and leg poked once to draw out blood. It was really a big hurdle to collect urine from the urine bag attached outside the 2 labia for a culture on BB C’s urine. It was only successful on the 4th & 5th attempt (need 2 cultures). I have to face another hurdle tomorrow when her urine has to be collected to be cultured again. This is really like a long long nightmare that just wouldnt end. Please continue to pray that BB C will recover fast and does not have KR coz if she has KR, she has to be on antibiotics up to 7 yo.
Gotta return to the hospital now….

I’m sorry to hear BB C in hospital… My heart ache when I read what she has/had to go through.
Will pray for BB C and please take care ya…
i know all these are just too much to bear for you. Just pray to God that she’ll get well and everything will be over soon. Take care & hope BB C recovers soon.
We are sorry to hear about Baby C. Will definitely keep her in my prayers. Can understand what you are going through. Even me, an outsider who has not seen Baby C in person ended up tearing when I read about her. I understand your sadness. Be strong and trust God.
Oh poor Baby C. Pray hard for her to recover. You take care too.
So sorry to hear what you’re going through… prayers for Baby C, and fingers crossed that Dr will find her vein soon and stop all the poking 😐
I’m praying for bb C to a speedy recovery…take care.
Shireen,
My prayers to you and BbC. I hope it’s nothing too serious and she’ll get well from UTI asap. Be strong !
i can feel your pain….take care and hope everything will be over soon!
Oh No, Poor Baby. I pray that God will watch over your Baby C and you.
Don’t worry she is in good hands as the nurses and doc will know what to do. I know it’s heart-wrenching to see your bb go through this, I remember crying my lungs out just because Bryan had to do UV treatment. The bright side is that babies don’t remember pain at this age, and neither would they recall what happened. I’ll pray for Baby C, in the meantime, be strong yah!!
I wonder how come this thing happen to baby C so sudden. I was reading your previous posts. Sometimes chinese medicine works, i think you should go to see a “sinseh”. Hope she’ll get well soon….
It pains my heart to see Baby C like this too. She is so young and has to go through this. Really pitiful:( I hope the doc can find her vein and put her on drips. You are holding on very well Shireen.
(((((Big Hugs to you))))
Ohhh…sorry to hear that…
I hope the doc can find the veins soon.
I know how that feels with the veins part.
Get well soon bb C.
I totally understand how u feel right now. Coz my baby was in the same situation like Baby C when she was 3 months old. A high fever more than 39 celcius and she was hospitalised for further checkup.
My baby was asked to do a test to check for KR six weeks later, at about 4 months old. If I refuses the test, then my baby would need to take antibiotics daily until she do the test to confirm she’s not suffering from KR.
I din let my baby to do the test, she went on antibiotic for 3 months, then I decided to stop and asked for options. The option is to do the urine test every 2 weeks. For the next few months, my baby did urine tests every 2 weeks. Seeing no signs of recurring UTI problems, my doctor suggested a less frequent urine test. Now at one year old, I can do it every 6 months.
My doctor told me after 2 yo, the kidney reflux problem will correct itself.
God Bless baby C! Hope she will get well soon!
oh no.. poor bb c… wen the little one sick we r the one who suffer, b strong shireen
I’ll pray for Baby C. Praying for a speedy recovery ..
Take care of Baby C and yourself..

Hi, I’m one of your loyal silence reader. This is the 1st time I’m leaving a comment. Dont worry too much. Baby C will be ok under the care of the doctor. My baby who is a few days older than Baby C was recently hospitalised for bronchitis. I can truly understand how’s your feeling right now. I’ll keep Baby C in my prayer!! You take care and dont forget you still have 2 little angels at home waiting for you.
hope she gets well soon…u do take care.
I”m saddened to know that Baby C has been hospitalized. Is the review on the urine out?
I can imagine your pain seeing her there.
Btw, I see earlier post that you had sashimi? You have to control your diet on the type of food you take since you are breastfeeding. I rem I had so much peanut butter that I pass it on to Zac when he was still an infant. He got serious eczema then.
Take care & my prayers with your Angel C 🙂
oh dear..
if the fever wouldn’t come down, try using swabs (the wet ones that doc use before jab) and place it on her armpit, her neck, the thigh, the hands, all the folded parts cos normally there’s where the heat got trapped. It will bring the fever down. My gynea did that on me when i was hospitalized for fever also and nuthing can bring it down. Hope that she will be fine soon. U too, take care
Don’t worry too much, Baby C will be alright!! Fully understood your feeling as when Jona admitted to hospital in midnite, and have to undergo scanning, etc…it really break my heart too since I couldn’t be any helps to ease his pain/suffer….
Oh my goodness. I’m so sorry to hear this. I’ll be praying for her to get well super soon. Don’t worry, all will be well. All will be well. Get some rest if you can.
I went thro this with my daughter….eventually diagnosed with bladder reflux secondary to a very severe angle where the ureters meet the bladder. We had to wait till she was 7 for the surgery cos there is always a chance that the condition may right itself. So, she was on antibiotics for several years. Apart from that, she really had no health problems and we took her all over the world, armed with a bottle of Novofuran. It’s a fairly common problem and it’s important to be diagnosed early and get started on treatment.
Shireen, so sorry to hear the condition of baby C..
You do take care..and will pray for her…
oh dear… will be praying for bb C.. my bb too was suspected of having UTI so we had to collect the urine.. so I do understand how difficult it was.. really hoping it’s not KR.. take care..
Strength to you and your family during this difficult time. I am praying for the best result for Baby C.
You must be positive for her in body, mind and spirit – she will feel your strength and that will help her recovery.
Take care, be well
