I Want To Slide Down The Rainbow

This morning as we were having breakfast together, Sherilyn was as usual doing some writing and coloring. That’s the only way I can keep this hyper-active brat seated still for at least an hour to finish her breakfast.

Sherilyn was first practising her writing skills and kept writing the letters ‘H’ and ‘V’. Then, she drew a rainbow.

Is that a rainbow Sherilyn? I asked Sherilyn.

Yes, and I want to slide down the rainbow, said Sherilyn.

Me : How are you going to slide down the rainbow?

Sher : I will climb up the stool.

Me : You can’t do that coz the rainbow is very high up in the sky.

Sher : Then I will climb up with a stairs (she meant ladder)

Me : You can’t coz the rainbow is really very high up in the sky. Nobody can reach the rainbow.

Sher : Then I will ask daddy to carry me. (Daddy is always the hero in Sher’s eyes)

Such innocent words and imagination from a 3 year old toddler. She really thinks she can reach the rainbow and the moon.

Effective Blister Relief

Do you get blisters on your toes and heels whenever you wear pointed high heels? I will surely get them when I wear my high heels, especially pointed ones and thankfully, I don’t have to wear high heels anymore. I still have a few pairs of pointed high heels which have been sitting quietly in my shoe cabinet eversince I left the corporate world. One is a Salvatore Ferragamo heels, which has very pointed tip and the other pair is a Alain Delon heels. Should I wear them again, I must get myself some Blister Relief patches from ENGO. Still Dragging My Feet

After reading Chin Nee’s post on her early preparation for the arrival of her twins (she’s only 23 weeks preggers), I realized that I haven’t done anything yet and I am already 36 weeks preggers this week! So this week or next week, I have to pack my hospital bag, dig out Aly and Sher’s old baby clothes and have them washed, buy some XS diapers, buy a new foldable mattress for the confinement lady as she will be sleeping with me in my room, buy some breast pads and buy a small tin of newborn formula milk, just in case I have no breastmilk to feed my baby! I also need to remind hubby to re-adjust the mattress base in the playpen so that it’s higher, for the baby to sleep during the day. Hubby has already bought me a bottle of Yomeishu and dozens of Brands Chicken Essence. My dad has also bought me a few bottles of Dom (which I hate to drink). What else needs to be done?

Do You Allow Your Maid To Share Food And Cutlery With Your Kids?

One thing that I really dislike my maid doing is that she likes to secretly share food with my gals. Though I have told her several times not to feed the kids with her food, she is still doing it – with the same fork and spoon that she uses. Yesterday, she did it again (coz Alycia told me out of guilt) when I wasn’t looking and I got so pissed off that I told my maid off. C’mon, how unhygienic can that be, sharing food and cutlery with someone who’s not your family member. Even I hardly feed my kids food with the same fork and spoon that I am using. Sicknesses can easily be spread through saliva and I don’t even know my maid’s health background. She could have TB or some severe sicknesses in the past. Maybe I should discontinue my maid having dinner with us together on the dining table. Do you allow your maid to feed your kids with the food that she eats and with the same cutleries that she uses?

Leg Cramps During Pregnancy

I had my 4th attack of leg cramp last night. Leg cramps are by far the most painful ordeal I’ve ever experienced, apart from suffering from a blocked milk duct which caused a terrible breast engorgement for 1 day and several months of painful Carpal Tunnel Syndrome after I had delivered Alycia. Luckily hubby was next to me in bed to help massage my leg to release the tensed up / hardened muscles. If I were alone, I think I’ll scream myself in pain till the muscles release by itself, which may take up to a minute. My Ob&G said that the leg cramp is caused by lack of calcium. I wonder how that can be coz I’ve been popping 600mg of Calcium tabs and drinking a glass of fresh milk everyday, apart from eating Calcium rich food. Did you suffer from leg cramps too during your pregnancy?

You Raised Me Up And Brought Me Down

I recently read from the newspapers that a man in his 60s died whilst having a hot steamy session with a hooker in a budget hotel. The reason for his death was not reported in the papers but I guess this cheapskate dirty old man must have bought some fake little blue pills to raise himself up. What many men do not know is that they should always buy genuine drugs, whether they want the little blue pill or the mighty Tadalafil to help them get some enjoyment. Many men think they can scrimp on some fake stuff, not knowing the dangers of fake drugs.

They Love Following Me To The Hospital

Alycia and Sherilyn just love tagging along with me to the hospital for my check-ups. First, they get to play in the playroom whilst I wait for my turn to see the Ob&G. Sometimes, daddy buys them sandwiches and muffins from Starbucks (yup, there is even a Starbucks within the hospital). Then, they get to pay at the parking ticket machine. The gals just love to insert the parking ticket into the machine, slot coins and notes and getting the receipt and change from the machine. They fight to do this all the time. Then, they get to sit on the hospital buggy. This hospital is like a 5-star hotel as they even have buggies to chauffeur patients to the car park. And finally, after the check-up, daddy would normally bring us all for lunch. Today, we went to Delicious @ Bangsar Village for lunch after the check-up. We only managed to have lunch at around 2ish pm and the gals only took their naps at 4:30pm. Click here to see what we ate at Delicious today.

I am into my 36th week of pregnancy this week. I am really surprised that my baby’s weight shot up really fast in just 2 weeks. 2 weeks ago, she weighed 2.2kg and today she weighed 2.85kg. Looks like I’m going to have another heavy baby. No wonder I’ve been feeling so heavy and uncomfortable lately.

Alycia and Sherilyn got really excited sitting on the hospital buggy, which was their first buggy ride.

Learning During Breakfast Works Best

I find that teaching Alycia and Sherilyn works best during breakfast time. It’s the time when they are seated and eating and their attention span tends to be the highest in the morning.

Sherilyn for one can never sit still during meal times. Without any activitiy to occupy her when she eats, she will climb up and down from her booster seat. I either read to her, let her do coloring, flash cards to her and do educational activities with her during breakfast. During lunch time, I normally turn on some educational DVDs for the gals to watch. Dinner time is strictly eating time – no activities but just eating and communicating with one another.

Sherilyn now recognizes most of the letters of the alphabet and numbers. I think she will progress faster if I send her to pre-school now but I am delaying sending her until at least June this year.

I Can’t Believe She’s Eating Chicken

After years of shunning away from meat, especially chicken meat, Sherilyn is now starting to appreciate chicken meat, though the meat has to be really well marinated – salty or sweet and not too tough.

And she won’t eat the meat if I cut them all up for her. She only wants to eat the chicken together with the bones….. and she will suck the bone clean! Now, I don’t have to worry about no one finishing the chicken dish. I have 2 little big eaters devouring and fighting for the chicken meat!

So to all mummies out there, if your children hate meat, you just have to be a tad patient with them. The day will come when they give you a big surprise and tell you that they want to eat meat. Don’t force them to eat, let them tell you themselves when they are ready to eat meat!

Sher Is Listening And Absorbing Like A Sponge

My mum was teaching Alycia what ascending and descending order are in her Math exercise several days ago. She was explaining to Alycia that ascending means going up, like going up the stairs and descending means going down, like going down the stairs.

As my mum was teaching Alycia, Sherilyn sat quietly next to my mum, doing letter tracing. All of a sudden, Sherilyn began to draw this :

Do you have any inkling what these are? These are Sherilyn’s version of the staircase.

“Are you trying to write the letter E or F Sherilyn?” said my mum.

“This is stairs, going up stairs means a-scen-ding” said Sherilyn out loud. She even managed to pronounce the word ascending clearly.

My mum was amazed that Sherilyn was actually absorbing what she has been explaining to Alycia all the time. Though she had kept quiet and doing letter tracing, she was actually listening and soaking up many things that my mum was explaining to Alycia, just like a sponge. Isn’t that amazing?

Pregnant Belly At 35 Weeks

That’s my ballooning belly at 35 weeks. I have 3 more weeks to go before baby can pop out and I just can’t wait for the day to arrive. I am actually hoping that my baby will come out a little earlier, naturally this time, to save mummy from having to go through another c-section and to save daddy from having to pay the bill which will cost a bomb.

Alycia Finally Understands

Alycia finally understands how to do this Math exercise :

and she did the entire exercise on her own with only a few mistakes made. Her writing has also improved by the leaps and bounds.

However, Alycia still could not do the exercise where she has to rearrange all the numbers from 0 through 30 in descending order, but I am confident she will be able to grasp the concept very soon.
