Sulky Sherilyn

Sherilyn is still resisting our new Cambodian maid and has been refusing to be touched, fed, washed up, held or bathed by the maid.  Yesterday morning when she got up from bed, I told my maid to bring Sherilyn to the toilet and to have her washed up as I was busy preparing Alycia for school.  Sherilyn got very upset and just sat on the bathroom mat with her bottom naked. She turned her head away from my maid and put on a sulky face as she said “you go away, I dowan you”.

During breakfast, I was busy on the phone helping my mil make a phone call to confirm her flight.  I asked my maid to feed Sherilyn prune juice with Manuka honey.  The minute my maid sat next to her to feed her, Sherilyn screamed “naughty kakak” and shoved my maid’s hand away and the cup of prune juice fell to the floor.  The juice splattered everywhere on the floor and caused a big sticky mess.  My mil and I were so mad with her and made her sit at the naughty corner.

Today, my maid took the effort to ‘be friends’ with Sherilyn and tried to act silly and played with her.  Well, her efforts paid off as Sherilyn laughed and later did not resist my maid when she tried to brush her teeth.  I am a tad relived but worried at the same time coz in no time, just when Sherilyn has gotten acquainted with Kakak Saleh, she would have to leave and Sherilyn would have to start all over again with another new kakak.

  1. ya… sometimes the previous maids feel very proud that the kids miss them!…. don’t worry… as they grow older they won’t be that attached to the maids 🙂

  8. It takes time for her to get used to the maid but atleast your maid make the effort to make friend with her.

    She is so cute sitting outside the washroom with her grumpy face.

  10. Aiyo..poor sherilyn, look at her pity face.
    Hmmm..for me, i think let the maid play and friend with the kids so they will accept her easily. This is my experience through my three maids. Normally i will let them play together, and “encourage” maid to do silly thing and make them laugh, or play hide and seek, my boys love it.

  11. kids easily to be “tham” when u can make them laugh. I guess yr girl misses the old maid la.. thats why she calls this one naughty kakak, she might think that this one make the old one leave?

  12. Hopefully the new one will also be friendly n kind to the kids. As long as she’s sincere n friendly to the kids, eventually they’ll accept their new kakak.
