Air Filter To Prevent Nose Allergy

When Alycia kept falling ill every month due to her sensitive nose and allergy, our pediatrician advised us to place a good quality air filter or an air conditioner that comes with an air filteration system in our house. He told us that when he was living in London, his son’ nose allergy went away after he fitted a high efficiency furnace filter  in the house. I am still hunting for one to place in the kids’ room. Choot Choot Trains

If you have kids who are crazy over trains, you can now bring your little ones to see some very cool trains at PJ Hilton. There are commodity trains, bullet trains and commuter trains running on tracks, complete with beautiful scenic mountains, hotair ballons, castles, animals, etc on a countryside. The display is at the lobby area, right outside the Paya Serai Coffee House. The display is really impressive.

Medical Assistant Careers

I never knew a career in medical assistant could pay so well until my former classmate told me recently. From young, this classmate of mine was very interested in the medical field. Whenever someone in the class had a minor accident or fainted, she would be the one who rushed to the scene to help. She did very well in her Upper Six exam but sadly, she was not accepted into a local university to pursue a degree in medicine.  As her parents could not afford to send her to a private university to pursue a degree in medicine, she went to a medical assistant school and took up a course in medical assistant. She started off as a nurse and 5 years later, she was promoted to the position of chief nurse at a prominent private hospital here earning a very decent salary.

A Romantic Valentine’s Day Getaway

February 14th marks the worldwide lovers’ day, Valentine’s Day. What would you truly love to receive from your loved one next year?  For me, definitely not flowers or chocolates as I don’t really appreciate them. What I would really love to do with my DH is to go on a romantic Valentine’s day getaway with him, just the two of us, minus the kids.

My first choice would be a Valentine’s break to Paris  where we would check into a charming apartment in the heart of Paris and then spend a romantic evening together at the Eiffel Tower and take a train ride from Paris to Lyon.

My second choice would be a romantic Valentine’s holiday to Lake Como, Italy  and stay at a beautiful lakefront villa with breathtaking lake views. Lake Como is one of the famous Italian lakes with spectacular views. I just like the laid back way of life at Lake Como. DH and I can just spend our days strolling around the beautiful villas or lakeside promenades or take a boat ride down the lake and get captivated by the panoramic lake views and idyllic lakeside setting. This scenic lake is also where one of the James Bond movie was shot. I am sure DH who is a discerning food lover and I will enjoy the authentic Italian food in Italy.

Now, if only my Valentine’s wish would come true, I am sure DH and I will be able to rekindle the lost spark and romance in our marriage.

Which romantic destination would you choose? Would it be a Caribbean romance for Valentine’s Day or a Sardinia for Valentine’s Day?

Haywire No More!

Got to thank Samm who has taught me how to reduce the size of my image.  Pretty simple, just edit the image by dragging the right bottom side of the image.  However, since it’s my first time doing it, the image went all over the place and I had to readjust it.  I just hope I did not mess up the codes as that particular post has soooooo many codes and requirements.  Praying hard that my post won’t get rejected by 3p.

My Blog Has Gone Haywire!

After I had copied some codes to form an image in my blog post from the 3P website, my blog has gone haywire!  The image is incredibly huge  and the presentation of my blog would normal go haywire if an image that’s too huge is uploaded.  Oh dear, can anyone tell me how to solve my problem?  My blog looks so awful now! The left sidebar widgets are now all pushed to the bottom right side of my blog.  Please help….

Simply Irresistable!

When we were at the Latest Recipe Coffee House @ Le Meridien Hotel last week, the gals were tickled pink when they saw not only one chocolate fondue but three!  A dark chocolate fondue, a milk chocolate fondue and a white chocolate fondue.  How can anyone resist such temptation especially when the fondues are placed right at the entrance of the coffee house?  

After their meals, Alycia and Sherilyn rushed to the fondues and began choosing their sticks to be dipped into the flowing chocolate fondue. 

I was so busy snapping their pix that I didn’t realize that Alycia’s hand and watch were coated with chocolate! That was really messy and I had to quickly bring her to the washroom to clean up.

After the enjoyable chocolate dipping session, the gals indulged in their chocolate coated fruits. Yummy!

Happy Winter Solstice Festival

Shortly after Sherilyn woke up at 6am today, Alycia followed suit.  Since I could not do much work on the computer, I brought them to the playground and let them sweat it out and release all their pent up energy.  I’ve not brought them to the playground for almost a week already as it has been raining almost everyday.  The gals are still bursting with energy now and  seem the least sleepy.  I bet they will go cranky and tired by lunch time.  Anyway, I should get them to nap early today as my brother and sil from Singapore will be arriving today and we will celebrate my brother’s birthday at PJ Hilton tonight.  

Today is also the ‘toong cheet’ or Chinese Winter Solstice Festival.  We have not eaten ‘tong yuen’ (rice flour formed into balls and boiled with screwpine leaves, sugar and ginger) for years already.  Wonder if we can get them from the restaurant tonight.  To all the Chinese, Happy ‘toong cheet’ and enjoy your ‘tong yuen’.  Wish I could eat some today….

I Will Follow You… Wherever You Go

I woke up at 6am today and Sherilyn followed me too.  Gave her milk and washed her up and tried to put her back to sleep.  But that brat doesn’t want to go back to sleep.   She was climbing up and down, asking me tons of questions, pressing my keyboard and followed me everywhere that I went, including to the loo when I needed to do my biz and refused to let me close the toilet door. On mornings like this, when either of the brats wake up early together with me, I can’t do much work.  That’s the joy of motherhood and I should be enjoying every moment of my kids’ toddlerhood whilst I can, right?

MegaKidz and X’mas At Mid Valley Megamall

We spent our entire day at Mid Valley yesterday.   I was really drop dead exhausted and the varicose veins made my leg hurt like hell, as if the veins were going to erupt as I had shopped, queued up for ages to use the fitting rooms and to pay (which really pissed me off big time) and walked non stop for 5 hours!!   Whilst I shopped till I dropped, daddy and the maid spent almost the whole day at MegaKidz with the gals.  If you have not brought your kids to MegaKidz yet, I would really recommend this place as there are many activities abound and the place is huge and very kids’ friendly too.  Security is also tight.  Many parents (esp. Caucasions) drop their kids there whilst they shop and there will be child-minders to supervise your kids.   The gals had a REAL swell time there climbing, jumping, laughing and eating.  They also had spaghetti, eggs, bread, mashed potatoes and fries at the little cafe’ inside MegaKidz. 

It was a really enjoyable day for us yesterday.  For the first time, the gals experienced snow falling at Mid Valley.  Yes, it was a real white X’mas at Mid Valley as there were 4 snow makers on the top floor shooting snow down and all the patrons went ‘oooh’ and ‘aahhhh’ and kept snapping pix of the snow.  Our hair was also covered with snow flakes.  I was one of the ‘ulu’ mummies and kept snapping pix but of course, the snow flakes did not appear in the pix. There were also a  Caucasion Santa Clause and elves on stage for kids to take pix with them.

Everyone Loves Fried Vermicelli

 

My gals, especially Miss Spitty Spat Sherilyn hates eating rice and dishes but if there is fried vermicelli or fried mee, she can chomp down a big bowl without any fuss, threats or bribes.  On days when we have fried vermicelli for lunch, I will ask my maid to cook one large pot that is even enough for everyone for dinner.  It’s so easy and simple – just cook once a day for 2 meals and everyone is happy!

I Love Radish

 

This is a red radish.  I never knew that there are a few types of radishes until my mil bought them.  Apart from the white radish, there are also pink radish (pink skin white flesh) and green radish (green skin white flesh).  The pink and green ones taste much better than the white radish.  I love radish soup and stew with radish.  I even love raw shredded radish (the ones for eating with tempura) and pickled radish.

Here’s a chicken stew with pink radish, potatoes, Chinese chestnuts, bombay onions and tomatoes that I had cooked. 

I read that if one has taken medication or anything ‘poa’ (nourishing), then one is not supposed to eat radish as radish will negate the effects of the medication and the nutrients.

Facebook

I never really knew how Facebook worked until recently when a few of my old friends tried looking for me through Facebook.  Several days ago, a boy whom I had known when I was 13 years old sent me a message on Facebook. I can’t remember where we had met – it was either at his school’s  swimming pool where I used to go for swimming lessons and tournaments or at a road traffic program for kids.   He saw my name on the profile of one of my old classmates in Facebook and then, tried to search for me.  I had barely remembered who he was but after he had written several things about himself coupled with confirmation from him about the things that I had remembered about him, we finally confirmed that we had ‘reunited’ after 21 years, amazing!

I was so shocked to hear that he had recently gotten up from a coma after being involved in a tragic car accident. He is now recuperating and slowly gaining his vision and balance as he was seriously injured and was on a wheelchair.

Facebook is really a good way of searching for your long lost friends. Are you a member of Facebook too?  Looks like everyone is into Facebook now.
