A Vacation During Chinese New Year

Christmas has come and gone so fast and in just a few weeks’ time, it will be the Chinese New Year. I told hubby that I don’t feel like going back to my hometown this year as I can foresee the traffic is going to be horrendous. What I’d love to do during the Chinese New Year holidays is to go for a vacation or maybe get some super bowl tickets from ticketsnow.com to watch our favorite teams face-off at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on Feb 3 next year. The best time to go for our vacation is during the Chinese New Year holidays as it’s the only time hubby is free to take a couple of weeks off. Chinese Chestnuts

For a change in variety, I boiled some fresh Chinese chestnuts for the gals for breakfast several days ago. They loved them but it’s quite a laborious task to prepare the chestnuts. First my maid had to boil the chestnuts for at least 2 hours. When they have cooled down, both my maid and I had to use a sharp knife to break the hard shell and scoop the nuts out. But seeing how much the gals loved them was all worth the hard work. Chestnuts are healthy and wholesome too.

A Candle-Light Dinner Tonight

Hubby and I are going to have a candle-light dinner at the Villa Danielli Italian fine dine restaurant @ Sheraton Imperial tonight to celebrate his birthday in advance. There’s going to be a bottle of red wine for us to toast and a tasty cheese birthday cake too. But no, it’s not going to be a romantic dinner for just the 2 of us. Our kids and maid will be tagging along too.

You must be thinking that hubby and I are so filthy rich to be dining in classy restaurants and hotels so frequently eh? No, we’re no where near rich, NO where ok. The dinner tonight is FOC as hubby’s a member of Sheraton. Since the voucher is expiring this month, we might as well use it tonight to celebrate his birthday in advance. We got the vouchers when hubby paid to renew his membership at the hotel. As for the wine and birthday cake, we have to pay for a meal to be able to redeem these for FREE and we’re going to order a pasta or spaghetti for the gals to eat. So tonight’s classy dinner would probably only cost us less than RM50, what a great deal eh?

Old Man With An Old Junk

My granduncle who loves to collect vintage cars has a Ford Mustang that is almost as old as I am. For one who does not appreciate old cars, I can’t seem to find any beauty in that old Mustang but my granduncle loves his old junk and still drives around the town in his old Mustang. I think he must be the only person in town who still owns such an old Ford Mustang. Each time his Mustang Radiator breaks down, he has to wait for months for a new radiator to arrive from overseas as very few factories manufacture them these days. I think he will be very happy to know that he can know buy his Mustang radiator online from radiator.com at discount prices. More Christmas Pressies

When Raymond kau fu (my eldest brother) came to KL last week, he brought X’mas gifts for the gals. He got them more play dough, a lunch box play dough set and a banquet set play dough set. That added to their collection of play dough to three sets. Alycia who loves food and cooking loved the gifts but not mummy coz that spells trouble and more work for her! Those of you who have toddlers will know what I mean coz the mess they make after the play session is really terrible, especially removing the play dough stuck in their finger nails. Anyway, thank you very much Ray for the pressies!

In A Holiday Mood

Yes I am and I have been waking up late for the past 2 mornings. Offers have been scarce lately due to the long holidays in the U.S. and there’s no point waking up early to check for offers. It feels good to be able to sleep up to 7:30am or 8am instead of waking up at 5:30am to start working. I better enjoy my sleep now before I have to start waking up early again when the gals go back to school next year, which is just in 5 days’ time. Wow, time really flies when you’re having fun.

Fanciful Disney Biscuits

This is the box of fanciful Disney biscuits that sil gave the gals for X’mas – biscuits with prints of Mickey and Minnie Mouse on them. I thought they wouldn’t taste good as Japanese love to create fanciful food with attractive packaging that don’t taste good but I was wrong. I am now hooked to these strawberry flavored biscuits! They are really yummy and crunchy!

I Am Shedding Skin!

Something really funny is going on with my skin. I am shedding my old skin to get new skin! Remember I had posted earlier about my dry and peeling skin? First, the dryness and peeling were on my hands and tummy. After about 2 months of skin peeling, I noticed several days ago that the ‘new’ skin on my hands and tummy is soooooo smooth, soft and supple just like baby skin! Now, the skin on my legs is starting to peel. When Alycia saw the awful skin on my legs yesterday, she said “mummy, your skin looks like santan!” I burst out laughing when she said that coz I guess what she meant was the peeling skin looked like grated coconut! Yes, she’s so right, the peeling skin really looked like grated coconut sprinkled on my legs ROFL! Nevermind, I can expect to have smooth and soft skin on my legs very soon. Boy, what’s happening to me? Why am I shedding skin like a snake? Can pregnancy hormones cause wierd things to happen like this?

X’mas Pressie From Hubby

Want to know what he gave me for X’mas?

A bottle of green tea perfume from L’occitane. Well, I was quite disappointed coz I still have 2 big bottles of Elizabeth Arden green tea perfume in my closet. Now, I have 3 huge bottles of perfume of the same fragrance! I have a total of more than 20 bottles of perfume in my closet collected over the years when I was still employed. I hardly use them ever since I became a SAHM. Now, just tell me what I am going to do with them? Dab a little on my neck and body before I go to bed every night to seduce him? Could this be a hint from my man? LOL!

Merry X’mas Everyone

After church service this morning, we spend the entire day at Mid Valley Megamall. The crowd was horrendous as expected. Spent 20 mins finding a place to park. We had a sumptuous lunch at Purple Cane Tea House at Gardens with the gals’ ‘khai yeh’ (godfather). What I love about their food is that almost all their dishes are cooked with tea leaves. Even their rice is cooked with tea leaves. No pix taken as I was so famished I had totally forgotten about it!

There was a Fairies’ Show shown at the Concourse Area of Mid Valley. Although the show wasn’t as spectacular as the shows at Las Vegas, it was still very impressive and entertaining.

Young Achievers

I have always wondered how a friend of mine, together with her husband has so successfully built their empire of business in the advertising line. They are almost the same age as hubby and I but their success in their careers has far exceeded ours. At age 34, they have already owned a house in an upscale housing area, a BMW 5 series, A CRV, a business that is flourishing so well and lots of overseas vacation. Even their kids are sent to a private school. I wonder how they do it and they are not even university graduates. They must have engaged a really good management consultant and a Logistics management system to help them manage their business so effectively. One of these days, I should get from my friend the secret recipe to the huge success of her business.

Megakidz @ Mid Valley Megamall

This is one of the highlights at Megakidz @ Mid Valley – the Fantasia Land. Parents were not allowed to follow the kids into the room as there will be a ‘tour guide’ to bring the kids around but since our gals were the only ones going in, we talked the tour guide out and I followed the gals in. The room was pitch black and the only ‘lights’ that lit up the room were the balloons that could glow in the dark and the glowing stick bangles that the kids wore on their arms. It was a very ‘christmassy’ atmosphere inside the dark room. As I could barely see anything, I just clicked, clicked and clicked my camera not knowing what I had snapped and thank God the pictures turned out so well and colorful!

We would definitely be bringing the kids to Megakidz again. At around RM26 per kid per entrance, it was well worth the money spent. Security is also very tight and other than the parents and the guardian with a special code (known to them and the person manning the entrance) maids are not allowed to bring the kids out. If you plan to bring your kids to Megakidz, remember to bring socks for your kids and for yourself. We paid RM5 for a pair of cheap white colored socks for our maid!

For those who want to celebrate their kid’s birthday at Megakidz, there are birthday packages available but quite costly, at around RM30+ and above per kid.
