Blooming Friendship

Alycia’s bestie, CY, recently came back from Korea for the Chinese New Year holidays. CY is one of Alycia’s closest high school friends, and their bond remains strong even after all these years. Adding to the excitement, another friend of Alycia’s returned from New Zealand for the festivities, and the trio has been making the most of their time together, catching up and creating new memories every day.

Yesterday, CY surprised Alycia with a thoughtful gift: three stalks of cheerful sunflowers and a bunch of delicate baby’s breath. Alycia came home late that night, well past midnight, and I was already in bed. The next morning, as I went to the balcony to hang laundry, I was greeted by an unexpected sight. There, in one of the flower pots with soil, stood the sunflowers and baby’s breath, artfully arranged. It gave me quite a jolt at first!

Later, Sherilyn explained that since it was late and Alycia couldn’t find a vase, she came up with the creative idea of sticking the flowers into the soil of the flower pot. And I must say, they looked absolutely stunning against the morning light!

Looking at those bright yellow blooms, I couldn’t help but wish they could grow roots and thrive. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if sunflowers could grow from cuttings? Sadly, sunflowers are usually grown from seeds, so it’s unlikely they’ll sprout roots in the pot.

The flowers are not just a pretty sight; they’re a symbol of friendship and thoughtfulness from Alycia’s friend. It’s heartwarming to see Alycia surrounded by friends who cherish and celebrate her. These moments of connection and kindness are the true blooms of life.
